Blizzard Lays Out Upcoming Plans for Overwatch! Check Out Jeff Kaplan’s New Video Here!

by on June 20, 2016

Blizzard recently revealed a new extended video giving an overview for the upcoming Competitive Play mode for Overwatch. Game director Jeff Kaplan provides the overview narration in the new video, which you can check out in the player below. Kaplan explains how the new gameplay mode will work as well as some new changes being made to the game based on player feedback.

Kaplan also offered some goals the Overwatch developers have for the future. Some changes were made to Competitive Play based on feedback from the games closed beta test, so Blizzard made adjustments to make the mode even more competitive. According to Kaplan, Competitive Play will not offer a power gain, but there will be sprays and cosmetic items and a customization system called “golden gun,” which will allow players to achieve specific effects as a reward.

Kaplan’s video also teases some new characters for future updates. According to Kaplan, both new heroes and new maps are on the way. It should be interesting to see what Blizzard has planned in adding some new characters later on. However, no other details were revealed on the new heroes or new maps. But that should liven up and refresh the overall gameplay.

Overwatch is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The Competitive Play mode is due out later this month. It’s final release date will be revealed later.

Seems like they have a lot of things in store for us, I couldn't be happier! Overwatch started out like a champ and it seems like a lot of people have started playing it now that it got really popular, Blizzard have done a great job so far.
