During a recent appearance on TBS’ Conan, DCEU franchise star Henry Cavill shared with Conan O’Brien a story about World of Warcraft related to the Superman role. According to Cavill, he was playing the video game when he actually received the call that he would play Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel film, later released in 2013. You can check out a video of Cavill sharing the anecdote below.
According to Henry Cavill, he originally missed the call that he was cast as Superman because he was playing World of Warcraft. Cavill stated, “I was playing World of Warcraft at the time, and I had my priorities straight.” He added, “I was playing an important part of a particular dungeon that I was going through…and it’s cool now that I’m Superman. And then I looked across it at the last moment and saw Zack Snyder’s name on the phone, so I grabbed the phone and then missed it. So then I called him back immediately and said, ‘Sorry, I was saving someone’s life.’ And then he gave me the news.”
Luckily for Cavill, Snyder didn’t hold the missed call against him. So Cavill was still able to win the role as Superman, which changed his life. It’s fun to see that Cavill also likes playing World of Warcraft.
Batman v Superman, featuring Henry Cavill as Superman, is now in theaters.
I don't play it myself but it's interesting that these muscular dudes play these games. I heard. Vin Diesel is also a huge geek for Dungeons and Dragons.
