The Witcher 3 DLC Adds New Gwent Cards! Get All the Details From PAX East!

by on April 25, 2016

During a panel at PAX East over the weekend (via Gamespot), The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt RED announced that the upcoming Blood and Wine expansion will add new cards to the in-game mini-card game Gwent. The new content will feature content from Skellige and four new cards. Some of the cards were also at the panel yesterday.

It’s not too surprising that new cards are being added for the DLC. A number of new cards were added for the Gwent mini-game in the Hearts of Stone expansion. So it makes sense that new cards are being made for Blood and Wine.

It was brought up during the Q&A session for the panel if CD Projekt RED would consider making Gwent as a standalone game for mobile devices. The question was then put to the audience if this is something they would like to see, and the audience responded positively. So the developers took a video of that response and plan to bring it back to the CD Projekt RED HQ in Poland. While that’s not a definitive answer, it does seem to leave the door open for the possibility. CD Projekt RED did release The Witcher 3 Battle Arena for mobile devices. A Gwent mobile game seems like a much better idea.

The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine expansion is due out later this year. It will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
