    On 30/11/1853 the Imperial Russian Navy under Pavel Nakhimov destroys the Ottoman fleet under Osman Pasha at Sinop, a sea port in northern Anatolia. Imperial Russian warships struck and annihilated a patrol force of Ottoman ships anchored in the harbor. The battle was part of the Crimean War, and a contributory factor in bringing France and Britain into the conflict.

    Are we supposed to post this on the exact date that the things happened or just any day? It looks like that's what some of yous are doing, whilst the others don't care, so that's why I'm asking. :p Anyway, this is a neat idea for some little fact sharing.
