Only 72 hours til the UNGA vote, Cameron is still objecting, but Clegg is pushing hard and opinion polls show 72% of the UK public want a Palestinian state.

Guys please sign up, just last year US veto the request to recognise Palestine as a state. This year its happening again, please show your support. Recognise that state and end the violence.

PS: I'm sharing this from another forum.

Man, nobody laughed at my election/erection joke! :c

Alrighty, I clicked the link, and was about to register when I realized that you are actually signing up to become a member of Avaaz. Although I believe Avaaz intentions to be good, I'm still pretty sure that this is just for marketing and/or commercial for their own benefits at the same time.

"and our voices are the only weapon that have a chance to beat back their bullying" -Avaaz.

Not that I am not saying this for sure, but I do highly believe the situation to be like this:
The site is just for signing up to this vote so that you can tell the internet and the world that you support an important case and really care about the situation, and it makes you feel better, like peace and truce is just a step away from being reached. Nothing, and I say again, Nothing will be solved or justified or helped by the subscriptions at this page, not even if it does reach 1,750,000 registers.

It's just like those useless groups on Facebook like "We who wants this and that chocolate to this and that country!".
Sorry if I'm being offensive about this. As I said, I'm not 100% sure about what I wrote above, but I do believe that I am correct. Please correct me if I'm wrong :)

Well, I can see the thought about it. The intentions are indeed good, and according to the man holding the speach, it was quite the opposite of the typical Facebook arrangements and groups. Despite that, I'll just have to say that I'm not personally too interested, and I do not think that the changes it would make, would be incignificant compared to what is wished to be achieved, unfortunately.

I understand what you mean, and I know myself, that this is really not the best that we could have/good enough to play a role in such big changes, but I guess it's still something, better than nothing.

Yeah, Avaaz is mostly for keyboard warriors (I supported them myself a year or two ago). They do work much better than those pathetic facebook "like" popularity contests, but they are still very idealistic and put their dreams over action that should be taken on the streets and in the real world. Still, if you support their goals, then signing up never hurts. ;)
