I picked up ELO on PS4 last month and I've been playing it nonstop ever since. It's not nearly as good as a main Bethesda series entry, but I thought they did a great job capturing the look and feel of a classic Elder Scrolls game. I'd love to see these same devs tackle an MMO Fallout project. I think Bethesda games lend themselves well to the genre, considering just how immense and all encompassing they tend to be. Anyway, it's pretty cool to basically be able to walk from one side of Tamriel to another. Imagine if they could one day link Washington, Vegas, and Boston in a Fallout game. :)

From what I have heard, Elder Scrolls Online was kind of disappointing. How active is the online community? Now that it's a pay-once game, I may have to look into it. I have heard nothing but praise about the game since it has shifted its payment model.

It was a mess when it first came out and I started playing it. I get the concept and did think it was cool, but the execution was sloppy and I just didn't have fun with it. Even though they got their act together for the consoles, I just don't care too much about it to play now.

I made the mistake of preordering the digital collector's edition for PC. Probably one of the most disappointing purchases I've ever made. I have heard however, that the game has improved a lot, and that the console version of the game isn't nearly as bad as the day one PC version. I'm skeptical though.

That's not to say that the game didn't have any redeeming qualities, it did. The lore and general feel of the game was fantastic and rather epic in some sense. The mechanics fell very short of expectation, though. Also, the class variety was just abysmal.

If they've fixed some of those issues then I may be encouraged to give it another chance, but again; I'm skeptical.

They made a mistake of making it pay to play, when it looked worse than Skyrim. That's why I never tried it. I've watched gameplay footage, and tried to see something I liked.. but it just looked too cheap for my taste. To have to pay for it was too much to ask.

And now that it went free to play, I'm no longer interested in MMO games.

It looked boring when it came out for PC and I was disappointed. I have only bought one MMORPG in my life (LOTR), and I found it to be terribly monotonous. I love Elder Scrolls games, so when I get a PS4 I may try it out, but somehow I doubt it. FO4, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, and MGS5 will probably make up most of the first year of my playing. After that, FarCry 4 and that zombie game will come next because they should be pretty cheap by that point.

Most MMORPGs are pretty grindy. They're meant for people who are willing to pour hundreds of hours into a single character. I'm personally pretty put off by it,t oo.

I have only played the console version of it, sadly.

How exactly was it disappointing? What did you hear?

Elder Scrolls online is nothing special, even after the improvements that have been made since release. I have put a few dozen hours into the game, but I feel like that time was wasted. I kept hoping the game would get better. It didn't.

I'm sure ESO comes across better on consoles than PC because it doesn't seem like a fully fleshed out PC game. Console players might think they're getting more than their money's worth, so it could thrive on those platforms. It wasn't that big of a success on PC, though.

Played it when it came out. Gave up about a month later. Wasn't a great game, to be honest. Bethesda's titles have a semi-MMO feel, but they're fundamentally not cookie cutter MMOs. ESO, unfortunately, was very much that, and though it featured a sprawling world I always felt very much forced into areas with missions I could complete.

That said, I did enjoy wandering into Cyrodiil to participate in allied sieges. Fighting over territory was tons of fun, and the ability to use siege engines helped offset your level a little when facing over-powered opponents.

SLTE sums things up pretty well with Elder Scrolls Online. ESO is a big pile of meh and nothing more.

To its credit, the game is better than when it came out. Like I said, it works better on consoles than on PC because it doesn't seem like a fully fleshed out game on PC. In my opinion.

Played it briefly but it wasn't something I was super excited about. Kind of got bored of it after a couple of weeks of playing so I can't say I was that impressed by this game. Probably not my type.

I actually rolled through the entire main story and got to Veteran Rank 1 in 100 hours. It was a fun little game, but I would've rather had a more content filled game. ESO suffered from having to be able to run on a giant server.
