I guess I'm more newb then a I thought. i've seen a char harvesting an omnon, then disappear. then it seems like a few seconds later a few meters away they appear - harvest - disappear, then rinse and repeat. I don't get it. Cheating?

Modders most likely, or extreme lag of some kind. Modders will most likely just be caught and banned, which is why it's quite rare to find modders now. It's pretty hard to do to, certainly not as easy as it used to. Just report them.

Probably a modder. Same with any MMO.

I think it has to do with how the game handles movement. With most MMOs, when you move, it has to register with the server first before the game allows you to go anywhere. You might notice that when you lag or disconnect, your character will rubberband or be stuck in one spot. With Guild Wars 2, the movement is registered on the client size to reduce lag I think. Basically your movement gets sent to the server after the client rather than before. I think people take advantage of that so they can make your character move large distances with the client, and the server will register it as legitimate.

It doesn't make sense for people to use these hacks honestly. You're paying to play the game the way that it's NOT supposed to be played - thus taking away from the experience a LOT. Oh well. To each his own.

Some people just like to win or troll other people. Or maybe they hack accounts and try to get them banned. All kinds of people are out there.

    Your sig doesn't work.

In any case, with these kinds of people, I'm pretty sure it was extreme lag on their end or a teleport hack. However, it does definitely sound like a teleport hack and as such, I hope you report those people.

However, I'm sure modders/cheaters are on the rise in GW1 unfortunately due to the rise of GW2's userbase and newness. Since ArenaNet isn't actively really developing for GW1 anymore. Personally I liked GW1 over GW2 but I'm probably saying that cause I burnt out heavily on GW2.

Anyway my point is that this kind of thing will probably be seen more often and not taken care of due to the fact people can just make free accounts and just start cheating again, unfortunately, due to the decline of GW1 and the rise of GW2.
