Anyway to improve latency?

Ping is the one thing that hinders my online experience. I have decent internet speed but that's not very useful when my ping is so high. I need to know if there's a way to improve on ping or it's down on the ISP's side.

The thing is there is really no specific method on how to improve latency as there are several factors that affects latency. One of which is the distance. The latency of your network connection depends on your physical location as a player (client) and the game server or peer you want to connect to. So, let’s say you live in Australia and you are playing your game on some US server located in California. Because of the distance in geographical location between you and the server, you may cause lag issues. If servers where somewhere in Australia then you should play more smoothly.

Of course there is also the ISP connection as one of the factors. When it comes to ping improve, upload cap from your ISP is way more important than download. Upload speed is important and it may highly reduce your ping in online games. So, when it comes to online gaming always choose an internet plan with a better upload speed. Unfortunately, upload speed cap is still way lower on most internet service providers than download speed limit.

One thing you can do on your end to somehow help improve latency is to close all bandwidth intensive programs (such as Peer-to-Peer programs) when playing online games as all these programs may reduce latency of your connection and reduce game ping. Close such programs to improve ping and reduce lags in online games.

Their is nothing you can do I think just avoid peek times and I think it depends on your ISP as well.

Make sure that you antivirus software knows that you are playing a game. This can sometimes seriously impact the rate at which data is transferred. As stated above, also make sure you are not running a lot of data intensive software in the background. I have sometimes forgotten that I was downloading while playing and suddenly I get that "Whats happening" moment when my download suddenly starts eating up bandwidth.

Google search "REGEDIT reduce game latency". There is one trick in there that works extremely well in reducing my latency in every game I've played. Truly a lifesaver.

So in other words you have to do some tweaking on your registry, right? It does look like it can reduce latency, though you really have to be careful when messing around with your registry or you might end up corrupting a library file which will result in having to reformat your system. I'm quite satisfied with my upload speed so I'm not gonna attempt this, but for those having latency issues it is worth a shot.
