The Division beta testing begins in December (but only for you lucky Xbox1 owners) The rest of us will have to wait for 2016 to get our chance to participate. Has anyone here applied for it ? Have you heard if you will be accepted yet ?
I think you need to pre-order the game to be eligible to participate, right? If not, I can try enlisting as well. I have an XB1 laying around.
I'd love to but yeah, I think you have to pre order the game before you can be part of the beta testing. Which sounds kind of like a good and bad idea. For one it's good since you basically paid for the game already and you'll be one of the first few people to play the game, the bad thing though is what if the game doesn't work at all and you just realized you've thrown in your money on a game that might not work properly on release?
Yes, you do have to have already ordered the game, but the user testing is there to get rid of the bugs you don't like. You will have paid for it anyway and this will be your valuable chance to feedback directly back to the developers with any problems you've encountered and issues you have. You might find that you've thrown your money on a game that doesn't fully work YET, but you'll be in the ideal position to have a direct line to the developers, to tell them where they've gone wrong. Pre-testing is always over-subscribed because its such a great thing to take part in.
Well, I will be part of the few that will wait until the game comes out. I never do pre orders because of the exact reason you stated about the game having a risk of not playing right at release. I would rather wait a bit and buy a game 6 months after it comes out because by then, day one patches and the like will already be implemented and I run a less likely chance of having a faulty disk.
Oh really. Damn it, I want to play it on PC though. Well good luck to those who get to play it, remember to write to us about what you think of the game!
I think the beta testing as going to be extended to other platforms in early (January ?) 2016. As far as I know this includes PC although its hard to get concrete information. We'll have to wait a little longer but not too long. I'm looking forward to the first reports from the beta testers as well.
I'm not really big on beta testing to be honest. I like waiting for the game to be released and playing the finished (somewhat ) product. I also really don't like spoilers, so playing a probably buggy build of the game isn't really something that necessarily appeals to me. That being said, some people love beta testing and are good at it, and I admire that, it's just not for me.
Yeah but isn't that kind of scary? It's a great way to get feedback of course but developing a game isn't really as easy as the industry shows it. It's not like the devs would just go "Oh you don't like that, we'll just take that away" because sometimes taking that one thing away can result to more problems. I've worked on a game once and it's not that easy to clean out bugs, it's like playing Jenga, you pull something out then before you know it the game is broken. That's why you see a lot of "hidden" content in games, it's easier to just hide things rather than completely take them away, it causes bugs sure, but those bugs are a necessary evil.
