I think that Metro 2033 is a good game, but the problem is that, it goes WAAY to far from the book. I hope Last light will serve as an eraser for that matter. But also, another big issue with Last light is that, it is really going to the Call of Duty side. Red dot and Grenade Launcher? That's almost impossible to get in a post apocaliptic world. But, we'll have to wait until next year to give our rates for the game. (Sorry for any english mistakes)

I think the grenade launcher was a bit more post-apocalyptic than the red dot, seeing as the a well-trained engineer or mechanic in metro can and must reassemble and modify broken down pre-blast machinery to make a living. They might not have the old pre-war grenades, but their own dynamite grenades would have worked just fine.

The red-dot however, I see no way it would have been implemented unless its charged via the pump or something. The minigun? I dunno.

But for impossible to get... I doubt it.

There are numerous military caches in Moscow, who's to say that a handful of them had been issued with grenade launchers, red dots, or even RPGs? If I remember correctly, (and please correct me if I'm wrong), things like these were built to last.

I agree with the OP . The grenade launcher, red dot and the minigun felt out of place.I hope they were for testing purposes only.Last Light should stick to what made Metro 2033 unique and if possible to improve on that.

The grenade launcher wasn't too unbelievable - cobbled-together design was nice. Besides, what reason is there that the various military caches that the Metro dwellers have armed themselves with wouldn't include grenade launchers?

The minigun, on the other hand, is just stupid. In a game where ammo conservation features centrally, why would anyone build a gun that wastes ammo that fast? Sure, it'll waste a few enemies as well, but I really see combat styles in the Metro favourite ammo conservation and semi-auto/burst fire. Plus it's the size of a motorcycle and probably weighs the same. Not an ideal weapon for close quarters.

The red dot sight I'm on the fence about. Its existence is hardly lore-breaking, but its appearance clashes with the design style of Metro. It's a genuine Russian piece, so it being used in the Metro is fairly realistic, but it just feels wrong.

Agreed. The minigun is not really something that metro dwellers would use since they are trying to save ammo. Also the grenade launcher is something that could be made. Metro dwellers make "grenades" so why not make a launcher for them? The red dot could work if it showed some amount of age. The trailer showed that it's in perfect condition. Or show a red dot that isn't being used in modern times. Make it a make-shift red dot. That way it's more realistic. Take out the minigun. Doesn't seem like it would be something that would be created. Not saying that the dwellers wouldn't be able to make it, just that people are trying to save ammo and making a minigun isn't the best way to save ammo.

I'm pretty sure 4a has a guy who's job is to invent and actually build all the "home made" guns seen in the metro. Also I think the red dot sight should be a kobra red dot sight and not the American one.

Yeah, that ^, and the fact that these guys don't throw things in there just for fun. They seem to be really careful and thoughtful about things. One thing I'm really really worried about id the "space-marine" style enemy near the end of the train in the demo. Why? :/

What were the global sales for metro 2033 on xbox and PC?

If they were poor then expect the game to take a slight new direction to attract more people. I hope it stays at it's roots and improves upon 2033's annoynaces and that the MP aspect will be enough to make it a known game

If you notice in metro when you aim down the sights, you'll see a red dot. Coincidence?

did anyone see how big that minigun was? it looks like it was supposed to be mounted on something, not carried around. they should tone the amount of ammo you get for it to one belt of ammo, not four or five from the gameplay.

some weapons have a built-in lasersight:)

As for the minigun it really don't fit in teh metro universe, it's to complex construction to just build from scraps(I think?) and red dot sights might work but as stated before, it should be the russian one and it should be worn, not pristine condition.

It looked like a bb minigun, but regardless I think it ruins the whole struggling for every strap of metal metro theme.

Don't get too hung up about the minigun shown in last year's E3 trailer...the gun is extremely rare in game, but for the purposes of promotion we wanted to show some heavy fire power in the trailer. It will make sense during gameplay as to how Artyom comes to have that weapon and the corresponding ammo to go with it.

The grenade launcher and red dot is not something outstanding, as you have seen there are military bases in the Metro, like D6, they could make some other red dot sights but most of em would most likely be found and scavenged from the stations, as well as maybe be taken from military bases on the surface because the the radiation has been reduced abit.

yes, but my biggest questionmark is how do they power the red dot sights? they are usually run by batteries, and honeetly there should be kind of a shortage of it by now. (alhtough the lasersights from metro 2033 worked...) would be a bit cool adn annoying if you had to power it up before using
