I got GW2 when it first came out, and I played it loads. I loved playing the Mesmer. However, it got to the point where if I wasn't part of a massive guild, me and my few friends playing it couldn't really do much else. So I stopped playing.

I did really enjoy it though, is there anything new worth going back on for? Or....has it changed so much now that there is no really point in popping on?

Not a whole lot has changed mechanics wise, but they did add a lfg tool into the game so you should have an easier time PUGing dungeons and stuff. If you got bored of the world and the combat, then probably not worth coming back since that hasn't changed a whole lot.

I watched PvP stream on some tournament few days ago and the PvP looked really exciting, but other then that the game hasn't really changed. I myself played it for about 1 month, but since as you know Mists of Pandaria come out then I just switched and never looked back. Gave my account to a friend who I believe traded it for some steam keys or something lol :p
If an expansion comes out I might consider playing again, but NCSoft is currently working on Wildstar as you know and I doubt they are going to release an expansion anytime soon.

What got me back was ascended crafting for weapons. When you salvage blues and greens you can get a new magic find. It's a great mechanic and I love it personally. GW2 is unlike any other MMORPG in a good way. You should consider coming back, mate ^^

I feel so far behind, only playing the first Guild Wars. I played it straight for a month and a half until our cat caught the cord for the laptop I played it on, sent it flying to the floor, and completely killed it. I'm so looking forward to the changes from the first to the second and getting hooked again.

NCSoft is just the publisher/host. ArenaNet are the developers of GW2 and have nothing to do with Wildstar.

ArenaNet have been working hard on the upcoming GW2 expansion pretty much since it launched. It's due any day now.

ArenaNet and Carbine Studios(the one that is working on Wildstar) are both subsidiaries of NCSoft. What does that mean? It means that NCSoft decided which how much money will get. At the moment most of NCSoft's resources are focused on Wildstar meaning Carbine Studios is getting a lot of cash while at the same time ArenaNet isn't.

So what I said is true and still stands. If you are more interested in how they spend their money feel free to visit NCsoft's site and see for yourself if you have the time to do it. They are a "share" company, so a lot of information on their profits and investments are displayed on their site for the current and potential investors to see.

This game gets new content on a half a year basis or so. Best thing is, it`s totally free. So if you have been off this game for a while, you should definitely come back and check out all the new things that have been added to the game. Even if it is just a new World Boss or quest chain.

You have to buy the game as far as I know, unless they have changed it, but I doubt it.

That isn't how game development or game publishing works. The distribution of money has no effect on how long it takes to develop a game unless people's jobs are at stake. If ArenaNet takes X amount of dollars every month to keep their operation going, then that's how much NCSoft will give them. Throwing more money at them then what they need will have no influence on how long it takes for them to release an expansion. The only time-influencing factor is if NCSoft de-funds them to the point where they have to start firing staff, and so far they haven't done that.

My response was towards the person who said that they are working "hard" on a new expansion. No they aren't working hard they are working as they have been working till now. The only way for them to work hard is to get more staff, which is impossible since NCSoft has set priority on Wildstar over Guild Wars 2.
It should have been really obvious what I mean...

It is buy to play. You must buy the game for about 60$ I think, but you don`t have to pay a monthly subscription fee. That is what I meant when I said "totally free" as opposed to games like World of Warcraft, which charge you monthly.

Hows the WvW action? I found it got a bit stacked in T1 and lame everywhere else. I am in oceanic time so it was hard to find an organised group to run with.

I loved GW2 and the graphics are beautiful but I did feel like I hit a plateau after awhile. I've been away from the game now for some time and am curious about this new content I keep hearing about. I guess I'm going to have to free up some drive space and have at it! Thanks for the information.

How is it F2P? I had to pay 50 euros for it back then, and now they simply give it out? It's unfair for us who paid, really. They should at least give us some kind of compensation if this is true.
