I like going mid and I want to buy a new champion.
What champion so you guys think is the best for going mid?
I currently having Leblanc and Ahri. Do you guys have any better suggestion?

For assasins, the best mid champions in my opinion are Zed, Leblanc, and Ahri. Even with the Talon nerfs, he can still be really good with a lot of quality roaming. For sustained, team fight oriented champions, I would go with Xerath and Orianna because they offer a lot of poke, utility, and amazing team fight damage potential.

Syndra is life. She has great damage and great utility to bring out. I love her.

There is no best champion. There are good meta picks and there are viable picks and then there are things that you find fun. All three of these can be played at a high enough level to help your team.

For example, syndra is amazing. High damage and utilty with amazing zoning potential. She does have her weaknesses, I wouldn't pick her into a matchup vs high mobilty. Its very easy to out roam her.

So it all comes down to what you are looking for. Do you want to win lane? Take a bully. Do you want to roam and pressure other lanes? Take a high mobility assassin. Do you want to have a safe laning phase and just farm? Take a hypercarry with an escape or with high defense.

    Examples of these are:

Bullies: Syndra, Yasuo, LeBlanc, Nidalee, Riven

Mobility Assassins: Zed, Akali, Ahri, Talon, Diana

Safe: Orianna, Lux, Morgana, Xerath, Heimer, Azir, Ziggs

So it really just comes down to how you want to play and what you prefer. There is no BEST mid champ.

I love playing Heimerdinger. He doesn't see a whole lot of usage, but due to the amount with which melee assassins are played in the current meta Heimy makes a great counter – his turrets will punish melees who try to step in and take farm, while his burst potential makes him a surprisingly deadly assassin himself.

It depends on what you're looking for in a midlane champion:
If you're the kind who enjoys being a douche to other players, pick LeBlanc (3 sec CD dash that deals a shit ton of damage, very safe), Heimer (Biggest lane bully) or Akali (She is only good in the lower ELOs now due to being nerfed)
If you just want to have fun, pick Zed or Syndra. They have good counter-play, so it's not LeBlanc levels of "You're dead, I just got away"
If you like unconventional picks, Swain snowballs hard (Ever heard of the Swain Pain Train?) and Galio can pubstomp if you pick them into the right comps. (Don't pick Galio into 5 AD)
If you want to play safe, then pick Xerath (Better version of Ziggs) or Orianna.

Damn, nobody even mentioned Malzahar. He's been my favourite since they released him. All that AoE and CC is amazing in team fights, nobody can't deny this. Plus, he's got a cool voice :p

It's just that it's hard when you immobilize yourself during your ult and you can be countered by one item: QSS

There are a lot of great candidates for best mid champion, though. I can't really pinpoint a single champion in this category to best the rest of the bunch.

Well, I guess that's Riot's intention. They don't want any single champion to be better than the others; they want each champion to be good for its own specific reason (this is also why they're looking to rework champions like Jarvan and Vi – they all serve the same purpose in different ways).

Lissandra would be a good choice at mid. Nice for poking, ganking and setter too.

Leblanc is the best, imo. If played right, she's got beastly mobility.

I'm in lower elo, but I agree with alot of these picks. Ahri and Heimer have been the most effective mid-lane champs and have carried more games than most other champs. I've also seen several Xerath's played really well that snowballed the game for us.

Isn't Fizz a decent mid-lane champ? Or was he someone that got nerfed?

I enjoy playing Yasuo mid. He's not really in the "meta" right now but he's still really fun to play! Plus he can carry pretty hard if played properly.

It's been far too long since I've played however I used to main Kennen/Heimer/Fizz for mid during S2-S3, the last time I played from S3-S4 I took Nunu and Maokai mid. Maokai's combo with ignite almost always guaranteed me first blood once level 3 hit. I don't think there's a best mid, I recommend picking based on your play style and sometimes its worth trying something new if it works out in the end.

I've really come to love Ziggs's poke game. It just great being able to poke a player back to their tower and getting the kill when they think they're safe. Besides him I really like mids with high mobility like LeBlanc, Ahri or Akali. I also have a soft spot for Annie since she was one of the first champs I learn to play mid.

Katarina is the easiest to play with (in-game, haha). Firstly and foremost, you don't have to worry about mana, although the cooldown timers are indeed a bit higher, which is a big plus for me, because I can stay as much as I want on lane, unless I need items.

Depends. What are you looking for? Poke mage, pusher, assassin, etc. ? My favorite midlaners are Ahri, Ori and Syndra. They have a decent range, can farm really well, and they are really strong in the late game. All 3 of them have enough dmg and cc to kill the opponent in 1v1, and they have at least one spell which can be used defensively if they are ganked. I believe that right now most of the midlaners are viable. Viktor and Cassiopeia are really popular and are really hard to play against. And the "I kill you in 1 sec" champs are still Katarina, Leblanc and Zed (however Zed doesn't really fit the tank meta in my opinion).

I love to play katarina mid. Her q is great to farm minions and that way I get great experience and am ahead of the team and opponents in the game :D

I think Caitlyn or similar, very long-range ADCs can be good in mid, if you want to switch up the boring meta and place the mage bottom with support, and ADC on the mid.
