I haven't got around to playing EVE yet, but from what I hear the universe in it is MASSIVE. Seemingly it's just meant to endless space, and is included in some articles for the biggest in-game worlds.

EVE players, what's your take on it?

It is by far one of the biggest worlds around. Look at Dust 514, it takes place in the EVE universe, so that's saying something for sure. I can't think of any other games where the world is as big or even bigger than EVE. Each new game will get bigger and bigger as technology is going to get even more impressive as time goes on. EVE may be the biggest world right now, but something may come that will dismantle that title.

Agreed, game world sizes get bigger and bigger with the advancement of hardware. Although the old GTA SA game made back in 2004 is still to this date bigger than most game worlds. Can you go to any of the locations in Dusk 514 through EVE?

    Thanks for the responses :)

I'll take a look at it then, as I love playing games that have a very large, rich environment and from gameplay footage on Youtube it does look to be extremely big. It's hard to imagine a world bigger than WOW...

One advantage that EVE does have in this regard is the fact that it's huge, but a lot of it is just empty space. It's probably not that hard for them to add systems, since most of them don't really have that much in them, especially when they can (and do) re-use art assets.

Unlike most MMOs, everyone playing is on the same server (except for Serenity, the Chinese server). That means that everyone in the world (again, besides China) who's playing will be playing together on the Tranquility server. Considering that this is different from most MMOs, I'd definitely say that EVE has one of the biggest worlds out of all MMOs.

I don't think there is any game that compares to the size of EVE. Yes, most of it is empty space, but that's what space is! Being on the same server as everyone else is amazing and thanks to that you get some massive wars and battles. Burn Jita anyone?

Trying to define the EVE universe as a "world" is near impossible. It is, literally, a universe. With upwards of 40-50 thousand people on at a time, split between stations and solar systems, one world would simply not be able to fit everyone. According to an external tool, there are 5100 solar systems in EVE, which I think include wormhole space (not 100% accessible, only by wormholes that randomly spawn).
