I've never played any of the Shining games before, but I do love a good fighting game. However, this seems a bit bland... but that's probably because the trailer wasn't anything special. What I find interesting is that Sega seems much more interested in making 2D Anime-styled fighting games lately. Have you seen footage of Dengeki Bunko? That game is a massive anime crossover, with characters from Durarara!, Sword Art Online, and more. I wonder if the success of the BlazBlue series and Persona 4 Arena sparked this interest?
Ditto on pretty much everything, haha. I've never played Shining but I love fighting games (hell, my current avatar is Junpei in P4U2, which I'm really looking forward to). This one doesn't seem that great, but the soundtrack did seem nice. I've seen Dengeki Bunko too, it doesn't look that great to me either but it sure is a crazy crossover. I bet Sega are interested due to fighting games in general being much more popular now than they used to be. They'll have a very hard time competing with Arc System Works in the anime subgenre, though, especially since ASW has BlazBlue Chronophantasma, Guilty Gear Xrd and Persona 4 Arena 2 currently. There's also Skullgirls to compete with, which seems to be gaining popularity in all regions (it deserves it, it's great).
I'm just hoping that SEGA actually decides to bring the fighters they have been making stateside. They seem to be bringing less and less over here and it's kinda bullcrap.
To be honest, I think it's very likely that Dengeki Bunko won't make it over here. Since it's a crossover of various animes, there might be licensing issues preventing it from being brought over here... hopefully they can bring Blade Arcus at least.
It'd be nice, but is Blade Arcus something that could honestly turn a profit worldwide? Maybe they would have more luck if they released it digitally. I just don't think it'd be as popular as BlazBlue, which is already pretty niche in the grand scope of things.
I dunno, the Shining series doesn't seem to be particularly popular. A digital only release without an English dub could probably turn some profit and sell a good amount if priced properly.
Well, looks pretty cool. I too never played any of Shining fighting games before. No point in getting too excited for it though unless it's coming to the west too. I'm still going to keep an eye out for it nonetheless.
Looks cool I love playing fighting games! and it looks like it could be a great game I will defiantly be looking forward to this game!
William Quah is right, though, not much of a point in getting excited since we don't even know if it will be localized. It would be cool if it does, it doesn't look super amazing but looks solid.
