Let's be honest, Bethesda churns out some buggy games. Most of the time the bugs are charming in their own weird way, 'cause they don't often cause any harm and seem almost like a trademark of the company. What's the weirdest / funniest / potentially most aggravating glitch you've run across so far?

Mine was an issue with Piper when I firstmet her. I tried to engage in conversation while she was talking to someone else, and the camera moved in for a close-up - but something went wonky, and when the mesh of her head moved forward, I guess the skeleton underneath decided not to move. Her eyes dipped right out of their sockets for about three seconds. Creepy, but hilarious.

I've also run into many issues with the brahmin getting stuck on objects and sticking up into the air at weird angles. Dogmeat has trouble sometimes too. But that seems almost normal.

Dogmeat is a mess, it's true. He gets stuck on walls looking for stuff. He gets stuck on animations and so on.
The most egregious of bugs I've got so far it's one where I've got stuck in a falling animation after I've hacked a terminal. I couldn't move from there so I had to reload a save file.

I haven't had many actually, certainly an improvement over previous BD games. The only ones I've experienced are subtitles getting stuck on screen and rarely objects disappearing if viewed from certain angles.

I haven't ran into any bugs so far with 15 hours in, I must be pretty lucky.

I don't know if there's any merit to this or not, but I've found the earlier areas to be less buggy than stuff that's further afield. I had no quest, graphical, or environmental glitches when I was in and around Sanctuary. As soon as I wandered over to Diamond City, though, things started to break down a bit. Had several quests in the last two days that have glitched in various ways. Usually a reset fixes everything, but... alas.

There are bugs though, if you don't have them you're just lucky or you haven't noticed. We're talking about a Bethesda game here. Even though to be fair it's not as buggy as Fallout New Vegas, fantastic game but it was a real mess.

I've met with some minor bugs like texture errors etcetera etcetera and I had a good laugh over Dogmeat just clipping through stairs (ahhh Bethesda and collisions). I haven't had anything major though, maybe I 'm lucky or just need to play more.

Did you play Morrowind? Now THAT was a real mess on launch to the point where every BD game after it looks like the most polished game ever.

Can only agree. A shitload of bugs. Finished main quest and 44 hrs in. The idiot perk doesnt triggers sometimes even if the icon animation shows. Dialoges repeating itself. Legendary monster corpses glitching trough the ground. And the worst: companion AI.

Dogmeat so far hasn't been that bad for me, although from time to time it glitches out. Some monsters also do weird things but except for those I haven't seen any noticeable bugs.

Ha ha, I found the companions so annoying that I gave up on using them. I'd planned on going solo anyway pretty early on, given that I went stealthy, and Preston bungling into the middle of my approaches screwed me over one too many times. I like companions for straightforward shootouts, but more delicate tasks? No thanks.

Preston is one of the most useless companions imo, his laser rifle is not realy suited for most combat situations.
I recently switched to cait as companion. She seems kinda good working with her shotgun. She approaches corectly. But can agree for the silent part companions kinda screw up quite often.

If it helps at all, you can change their equipment when you trade with them. I did that fairly promptly with Preston's musket 'cause it didn't seem to be killing anything. Now he has a shotgun and is fairly okay at short range. I don't much like his personality, though, so it's a moot argument anyway. Only talk to him when I have to for Minutemen missions.

Trading gear works? I always throw some looted gear into my cait but she never switched weapons though and just sticks with the shotgun. Is there a function for follower gear iam overlooking?

It's still really buggy when there are games that have less problems in general. I mean sure, as I said it's not even that much filled with bugs, especially this year where the worst release we had on PC was Batman Arkham Knight, which still barely even works by the way. You can't beat that and it's incredible that we live in an age where it's not a Bethesda game the one with the most problems.

I don't think the Idiot Savant perk is supposed to work for every single action. It would be too powerful, wouldn't it?

It actually works with everything. Yeah it is realy overpowered especially when it comes to 5x quest exp.
It just sometimes doesnt trigger right.

I hope they nerf it even though i used it myself sometimes.

To be fair almost all big open world games are bug ridden, and for a good reason. The only ones that I know of that are not are the recent Far Cry and Crysis games, but those also offer much less content than most other ow games.

I have not come across really game breaking bugs so far. The only big issue is, that I have lost Dogmeat somewhere. He showed up for a quest he was required to, but then disappeared again. Apart from that, no funky graphics glitches or such. :D

When you enter the Trade window, highlight one of the items you want to equip on her once you've swapped it over. If she can equip it there should be a prompt at the bottom of the window that says 'Equip'. Which button you hit depends on your system, of course. Regardless, she should swap weapons right away. If she doesn't, for some reason, just steal the shotgun and try equipping again.
