What's your favorite kind of structure to build, where do you build it, what shapes do you use, and why?

I build things attached to mountains, be they futuristic looking pipe systems, castles, or towns. I usually tend to lean heavily on circular architecture, and I build in such a way that it looks like the structure has been around for quite some time. I dig the aesthetics of it.

For me there is a difference between what I intend to build, and what my completed project actually ends up looking like. I get distracted pretty easily. I might start off trying to build a tree house, and next thing you know I decide I want to create a wooden rocket. Silly things like that often disrupt the building process for me.

I like building pretty much any kind of house/tavern/etc, when I use a specific style. I like using oak logs/spruce logs for the trims and cobble/wood planks for the walls. I also have a pretty specific style of roof. When you have a bunch of different shaped buildings with the same style, it makes for a nicer looking area.

Do you create a sort of township for yourself or do you prefer to have one hub building out of which you conduct all of your business? I find myself often settling for one major structure with outlying architectural features such as roads and lights to mark the way.

I generally just build a single house. One house with everything I need coming from that point. I do like to build into a mountain as it helps defend it if I do decide to play on something with mobs. I don't like mobs but when you can block it off for the night it feels so much better.

I like to build elaborate structures into the sides of mountains. I personally think that homes which stick out of the sides of mountains look really cool. Its very easy to do and you always have a tonne of space to work with. I usually build 40% of my base outside the mountain and 60% inside.

I love to create deep tunnel systems. Just keep on digging in whatever direction you want. Hitting ores is just another bonus.

I love building towns. It takes as long time to build, but the end result is so satisfying. Another thing satisfying to build is always your first home in survival. Traps are cool too, they are fun to mess with.

    Redstone mazes.

I love that you can trigger pathways to close with pistons, I love that you can use command blocks to teleport someone in the maze to another maze, the sheer complexity of it is awesome.

How do you make Radstone mazes? They seem so complicated to me

I've never thought of building a house on the side of a mountain. That sounds so crazy. Your ideas have made me feel like my homes are so generic and boring looking. They sort of are, though... lol. I've never been able to create pistons and trap doors that go off with a pressure plate, though. I would very much like to.
