I have been playing the free trial a lot but I'm not sure I want to get a subscription. It's really fun and addicting sometimes but other times its very dull and grindy. I think this has to do with the restrictions of the trial though. Do you guys have any tips to get more out of the game?

Uhhhh, really though. You are basically at the point in which either you start paying the sub or you give up the game entirely. It's up to you.

The game is massive. It has a lot to do and many different things you can do. You don't have to quest, you don't have to do a particular thing. You can do almost whatever you want within the confines of the mechanics.

There are literally thousands of quests split into many different worlds.

I strongly suggest you upgrade through the Blizzard store. That way, you get the full game up to Cataclysm for $20 and then if you still want to keep going, get the Pandaria expansion for another $20. However, Blizzard has discount sales at times. During the Winter Holidays, I bought a new digital copy for $5 then the Pandaria expansion for $10.

I would only update to Cataclysm at first and then if you like what you have gotten so far then update further.

The grind thing never really goes away- that's the main purpose is you keep coming back to do those dailies. I have let my subscription lapse a few time over 6 years if you get fed up just before new expansion or your tight on cash. Blizzard keep the characters stashed so you can come back.

I wouldn't rush into buying any gull games, they will probably be more grindy than WoW to be fair. ;) Just don't get sucked into buying and collectors editions-fantastic waste of money if you ask me.

There will always be times when the game is grindy. Even if you are at max level, you will still need to do boring stuff just to get that extra gold. If you liked the game, it doesn't hurt to keep playing. Just pay for one month and see if you like it.

If you do decide to get the game, there is currently a way to get a 75% discount on the battlechest, which includes your first month. On your trial account, select a realm that has characters already created. When you next open the game and select the realm, you'll get a popup for the discount. I'd recommend trying it for that first month, and if you like the full game, then you can continue with a subscription.

Honestly, I was in the same position as you. I liked the game, but not enough to spend money on it so I played a few days on a private server to see what other things the game offers and then I bought the game when I saw how much more there is to this game.

He's right. You are going to have to make a choice. Personally, I would quit since the game is near it's end of life. Don't waste time for something that will die in the near future. Get ready for ESO and spend tons of time there. It will be around for at least 10 years in my opinion.

How did you figure that? WoW has had a massive drop of subscribers, but it still retains more paying subscribers than all of the other P2P MMO games on the planet and one new expansion is coming out, while a 6th is already in development.

People have been saying WoW is dying since 2008. It's 2014, 6 years of people saying it's dying. Well of course it's dying, but not what many people are thinking. Heck, I'm dying since the day I was born. It's just a matter of when and how I will maintain my health. Same with WoW.

People have been saying WoW will die in 1-2 years since 2008. Right, of course, that is why they went down to 6 million subscribers in 2009, then shot right back up to 11 million in 2010, then gradually that number went down to around 7.5 million this year.

So with that said, WoW IS dying, but not in 1-2 years. It will take awhile, especially with two expansions on the way and with expansions, there will always be people coming back and new people registering. It's a fact and not mere opinion.

Whether or not you buy the full version is up to you but the grinding will never go away. Even once you get to the highest level there is still grinding out raids for gear. That being said there are tons of things to choose from once you get there. My favorite has always been the PvP capture the flag arenas. They are extremely fun and the token rewards can work exceptionally well for PvE afterwards. I don't think it is dying either, if anything it is just one step closer to being free to play but not dead.
