Can't play the DLC

    Hi. I bought the season pass since I'm a huge fan of the game but I can't play it.

    First off the mouse is no longer working in the menu. It works fine in the game but not in the menus. I heard this might have something to do with me running on windows 8.1 but still ... it's a problem

    It wouldn't be a big problem however if the interface was properly tested. The whole thing works with the keyboard, but when I go to CHAPTERS and want to select new mission guess what happens? Nothing. I can't select the other option. The arrows keys don't work, pressing "2" doesn't work ... basically I can't select the button via keyboard. A patch for this would be appreciated.

    It's a windows 8.1 problem.

    But the select chapter menu not working (and not allowing you to select the DLC) with the keyboard, even though pretty much all the menus are keyboard friendly, that is not a windows 8.1 problem, that is a metro LL problem.

    I only just reformatted and went back to windows 8 last week. I also had problems with games like borderlands 2 not launching and my mouse not working in Metro last light.

    The o/s is problematic and could be the cause of problems you're experiencing with metro last light.

    Like I said: the mouse not working, that's a windows 8.1 problem. I'm not criticizing the game for it.

    However the menu not working with the keyboard, especially when the whole menus are keyboard friendly and work perfectly, that is entirely the game's problem.

    Blame the game for not running properly on an OS that is not released and only exists as a preview version. Screw logic.

    Screw reading comprehension too apparently.

    I already said about as bluntly as I can put it: not being able to select the DLC via the game's menu using the keyboard is not a windows issue, it's a metro issue

    Joke's on you, your problem still stems from the OS.

    Nobody would test a PC FPS game to work without a mouse. Ten years ago - maybe, but not today.

    Plug in a controller and see if that works.

    Oh I bet they tested it since it DOES work with the keyboard for everything except the new DLC. I could understand that if the menus were designed for mouse only but they're not, they're very keyboard friendly which is a result of multiplatform development most likely. They just forgot to test the DLC menu

    And I don't have a controller :(

    Also how exactly should they have tested something for the preview of the OS that was released after the DLC was finished?

    Doesn't matter. If the keyboard worked that would have sufficed.


    Listen friend. Is english not your first (second or third) language? I don't know how many times I have to repeat the same thing until you get it: THE KEYBOARD NOR WORKING IN THE CHAPTERS MENU IS NOT A WINDOWS 8.1 ISSUE

    And how should they have tested it? The same way the did test the menu for keyboard functionality before (regardless of what windows version they had)

    Jebus chribst, I know.

    It doesn't work in any OS BTW, but the problem starts with your Win 8.1 OS regardless because that's what affects the mouse. None of the devs assumed that someone would want the game to be 100% functional without one of the primary input devices.

    Anyhow, you have the problem and you know what causes it. File a support ticket with Steam, wait for a patch or alternatively install a different OS or install a second one solely for M:LL. Or borrow/purchase and plug in a controller.

    Do you mind 47 there is nothing anyone here can do but give you suggestions kommodo is trying to help you,

    it is a win 8 problem so just wait for a patch

    It doesn't work because Metro isn't designed to work with 8.1, true.
    But that is because 8.1 is just a preview version, as Komodo has said.
    I agree that it comes down to being 8.1's error, not the game's.

    I totally understood your question. Windows 8.1 is causing the problem imo. The game wasn't designed to run on it. Drivers are proving problematic too. The fact that I couldn't get games like Borderlands 2 to work at all proves it will cause problems with games.

    I even had a forum friend who works in the IT department to look at Borderlands 2 and he said:

    "The last time the bl2 launcher was started, it was crashed by ntdll.dll - which is a file that talks with the NT kernel.
    That would mean that currently, bl2 is incompatible with windows 8.1 as far as I can tell."

    If I had Windows 8.1 I would have tested the game but as I mentioned earlier I reverted back to Windows 8.

    Drop a Steam support ticket or try and find other members on 8.1 Preview who may have problems with Last Light.

    edit - Have you tried running the game in Compatibility Mode?

    I tried compatibility mode and still nothing
    but there was a recent patch/fix issue because now I can select the new missions by pressing Q so the problem is solved

    Thank you 4A games and everyone who tried to help here
    I'm off to enjoy the DLC

    Jesus christ, calm down man. Komodo's more fluent in English than half of the people in this forum and he's only trying to help. The fact alone that the issue exists only with 8.1 means that it stems from the OS. The game wasn't designed to work with it, and considering you're using a preview version, it should be a given that it isn't going to be 100% functional.

    We're glad you got it sorted out, but come on man, curb the hostility.
