I know the two aren't at all identical, but both games take place in a distant past. Could Ryse be the next Assassin's Creed? Could it be the next best thing? If Ryse happens to be a massive hit, I imagine it could compete with the likes of Assassin's Creed or other similar games. What do you think though?

Assassins creed is a well established series that is much more popular and I don't think Ryse can compete with it just yet. I think Ryse will be better, the graphics and gameplay look much funner and it seems like a game that you'll get a lot of use out of.

It has potential if it truly becomes a classic game. If Microsoft plays their cards right, this game could be a future hit for them with sequels and all that good stuff. Ryse looks like it may be a game of the year contender, and it could be possible it could even be better than AC, but I do agree that AC is more established and will probably win out in sales.

No.. I don't think Ryse should be compared to AC.. if anything it should be compared to Gears of War.. In that I mean the combat seems similar in that you are in a small map slightly linear but with freedom to move around, beautiful visuals, the combat is gory and mature, you command a team at times, and the MP will most likely be similar to Horde mode.. All very good things if you ask me...

Ryse has a long way to go. I've had it nearly a day and it does get repetitive. The executions are fun, maybe they will drop a expansion that allows more executions that go over double kills. A triple or quadruple execution would take a lot of skill to set up properly.

The combat system is far too repetitive in Ryse to be a real competitor to Assassin's Creed. It's okay and attacking in slo motion can be fun at the beginning but it just get tedious after a while.

AC was mostly popular thanks to its open world and freeroaming aspect. The combat in it isn't exactly stellar, and the story is alright, but certainly not the greatest selling point. What people enjoyed probably the most is the ability to go around on rooftops and kill anyone you want, with a plethora of wonky but interesting weapons, and new mechanics that haven't really been done before.

What Ryse has for it at the moment is a combat system that (in my opinion) blows AC straight of of the water, even if it's a bit QTE heavy and mostly just eyecandy. It's a different type of gameplay, but if they introduce freeroaming elements and do the whole "historical accuracy" thing really well, I could see it taking away the spotlight.

Ryse can't even be in the same conversation with Assassin's Creed. The reviews on this game have been bad to say the least. While Ryse looks beautiful like many games before it. It simply fails at what gamers actually want. That is enjoyable game play with a compelling story.

Don't get me wrong here guys. I still bought it and will play it though until the end.

I've played Ryse from beginning to end and about half way through I just didn't want to fight anyone in the game anymore. Anyway that I could possibly attack anyone, I'd already done a thousand times before. I just wanted to play it through to the end for the sake of it really. I agree with EronnousRogue that the fighting in Assassin's Creed is also tedious. But the thing about AC is that... in general.. you didn't have to fight if you didn't want to you could run away or silently kill your enemies, in short there was a variety of methods you had of taking down your opponents, and this distracted you from the fact that the fighting mechanic was just so-so. In Ryse, you have to fight, there's no other way to go about things.m which means you just have to face the combat and sort of.... get through it.

AC is stealth, killing without getting caught. Ryse is hack and slash and don't worry about sneaking around. I don't really see a comparison at all.
