Convince me why I should want to buy ESO.

Hey guys, I'm just curious and thought I could start a discussion on this. I'm a big Elder Scrolls fan, I've enjoyed the series very much ever since Morrowind. I'm just very conflicted about Elder Scrolls Online. I don't feel convinced that this day in age I should have to buy a $60 game aswell as pay a monthly fee to play a game.

With the rise of the Free to Play model, what is making ESO worth that much of an investment from us? What are the reasons you personally are excited and willing to shell out that cash? I was looking forward to the game but the payment model has kind of curbed that excitement.

Well I cannot convince you to buy the game since it is not out yet and you really can't judge a game on pictures and trailers, but either you like what you see or don't it's that simple.

If you are a fan of MMORPGS and enjoy Elder Scrolls games, why wouldn't you want to try out ESO? I know that paying a monthly fee for a game isn't very tempting, but the company makes quality software. It might be worth the extra money.

You shouldn't buy this game. They are going to charge $60, a $15 a month and on top of that, microtransactions. I am not going to even consider it until they switch to F2P or B2P model.

I think this is exactly what I'm most concerned about. They will charge for the game up front and then eventually switch to a F2p plan like SWTOR did and leave me feel cheap and used when I was paying full price all along.

Yes, it's better to wait for the F2P switch which will come sooner or later and if they won't switch, i won't play this game.

No one can tell you to get the game since your the one paying for it but its a good game if you have ever played Skyrim then get its basically the same worth every bit of your money not much else to say really.

But one shouldn't forget that we got everything for only $60 in Skyrim, whereas we are getting $15 a month plus all the mirotransactions imposed on us. It's not wise on part of Bethesda.

Hm, with the subscription charges being a negative for me I'm not sure I will even be playing. I used to pay for a a subscription and always felt like I HAD to pay to get my money's worth. But, I did like Skyrim (who doesn't) so I may check it out. Give the game a try if you it looks like something you will like, maybe look at some YouTube videos to check it out as well.

Think of it this way: Would you rather play ESO or buy a new game every 2-4 months. In the end that is the question, is ESO really worth more than a couple other games?

First we have to wait and see what the game is going to be like. So far it looks like Skyrim a lot, and that's a really good thing. If it happens to be Skyrim, but online, this game is going to be epic on so many levels. I'd wait a while yet, this game isn't finished yet so I would wait a while, it could very well be a game of the year contender.
