Would you pay for a purely cosmetic gear that has no benefits with your gameplay/combat? I've seen people spend over $50 just for couriers and stuff in one game, do you think this is too much or can it be justified by the appearance of the gear?

The only time I will pay for cosmetic gear is when I am avidly playing a character, such as Witch Doctor in Dota 2. I spend around $10 on cosmetic gear when valve did their spring sales. I didn't really regret it, since I played Dota 2 so often and Witch Doctor was generally who I chose in battle.

I will never pay a significant amount of money on any sort of gear while gaming. I usually wait until sales happen, but the sales have to be a pretty hefty amount taken off.

Same here hahaha, I first thought that cosmetic gear are useless and crap in Dota 2. Then one day I bought a treasure key for a treasure and opened up a mythical set for Natures Prophet and got hooked to item sets. Saving up for the Voth Domosh set for Legion Commander.

I wouldn't spend $5 dollars on that crap, thats why companies like EA with their expensive DLCs and invasive micro transactions disgust, despite the fact that they have some truely awesome titles under their belts; Fifa comes to mind and Kingdoms of Amalur.

I hate EA and their microtransactions too. They have a crappy system of selling DLCs and games. IMO almost like they are selling half of the game to you and then asks you to pay for more after each DLC to get the whole game.

I might pay for purely cosmetic gear if it has an infinite time attached to it. Most of Maplestory cosmetics are time based, like up to 3 months or something. I bought a bear costume once and took screenshots and stuff. It was nice for the duration, but it was just lame in the end. The purpose was to amuse me and get some reaction from my surroundings. These days, I probably wouldn't.

Spend real money on it? No. Spend virtual money that I've earned playing? Sure! I love being unique in game and not just another one. hahah

Would I do it? No. I can put that cash toward RL gear. ;) If I spend actual money, it will have to have some in-game benefit other than a good-looking toon.

I wouldn't pay for a gear unless I would get some advantage of it in the game. Regardless I spend very little money on online games since it is just virtual material you can get with that money.

I like cosmetic gear because it doesn't give you an advantage over other people because that is just unfair. I buy some skins on league of legends but nothing else.

Cosmetic gear is worthwhile for customizing your character and setting it apartment from thousands, or even millions, of others. Otherwise, it's mostly a waste of money.

$50? Wow. That's the equivalent making a paper plane out of your $50 and watching it fly away from you. Yes it's amusing but only for a short period of time. I will never spend money on such useless items.

It's a waste of money not unless you're really trying hard to stand out from the crowd but for me, I wouldn't throw a dime at them let alone as much as $50.

I have never paid for cosmetic items in any game nor I am planning to do so in near future. The only game I remember doing so and going against my principal is Team Fortress 2.

Nah I will not buy some cosmetic gears that will not improve my stats or something. But it's your choice if you want your character to be more beautiful than others.

I would if the gameplay itself isn't affected. Some games can only make their living that way and I won't begrudge them of my financial support. Guild Wars 2 is a good example of that. Sometimes if I don't want to drop money then I'll gold farm to convert currencies to purchase something. If it's a game I'm going to spend a lot of time on, then I see nothing wrong with that. A decent restaurant meal is $10 and only lasts an hour at most. A movie is like $10 for 2 hours of entertainment.

No... maybe for the most basic ones its fine but I will only really spend for ones that adds something significant and really useful for my character.
