    Well discuss it here, but in my opinion this is another game ruined by ea. :(
    Dumbing down the game for consoles ( for the console players no offensives but i know a lot of you don't know what that means. The original crysis had a huge world and tons and tons of modding potential. With crysis 2 as the consoles recived it the graphics went down and the gameplay. The world was to much for the consoles and instead we got a linear pos. And EA ruined the multiplayer and instead made it a COD clone.)
    The original crysis STILL has the best graphics of any game. New improvements have been made in textures and engines, yes. But the game was made soley for pc with a huge budget. The graphics were more natural than anything else. The engine, while receiving some improvements was mostly tuned down due to lack of ram on consoles. the physics system also took a hit as well as the a.i.
    Imagine if the game engine was improved solely for the pc this time. taking advantage of newer textures and the improvements in the field of polygons. Not only would the graphics have been improved but the gameplay....
    Crysis 3 continues this. Again using lack of nano speed ( the fov is extended in this and thus consoles can't run this). AND NOW? They have the nerve to make gun play a cod clone too.



    Also the mp was turned into a cod clone. The original mp (power struggle Google it) was completely different from anything else. And in my opinon the only mp of an fps that rivals ro 2 or dayz.

    gentlemen it is sad but yet another game ruined by EA.

    any body know, is it true that this is the end of the crysis trilogy?

    According to several gaming sources it is the end of the trilogy but not the end of the series. To help support this, is the fact that Crytek has stated that they will be making Free-to-Play games from now on.

    Thestalker, Crysis 2 didn't have worse graphics than Crysis. Sure, the visuals (colour scheme, art style and design of environments) were better in the first game. However, from a technical point of view, Crysis 2 is the superior game. It runs on new technology that looks more realistic than the the previous game... however, its environments are quite boring and bland compared to Crysis.

    Also, Crysis is not the best-looking game out there. Technologically, it has been surpassed by numerous games. Visually... well, that all depends on opinion.

    Anyway, you're right about pretty much everything else. I don't think I will be buying Crysis 3 any time soon either.

    You obviously haven't seen what cryengine 2 can do when modded....

    And the engine has even more potential. current graphic card just cant take it!
    Imagine if the advancements in tech since were used on this engine (like dx 11, more advanced polygons, and physx)
    but one thing ( an indie game at that!) blows even this out of the water.

    That comparison video compares CryEngine 3 on consoles and CryEngine 2 on PC... that's obviously going to be better on the PC. The fact that PC has better graphics than consoles is nothing new. That video doesn't do anything but prove the obvious. It is useless in this case, since we're talking about Crysis and Crysis 2 on PC.

    Also, you didn't say that CryEngine 2 is the best engine out there. You said that "the original crysis STILL has the best graphics of any game out there", and it doesn't - when compared to Crysis 2 or some other modern games. You also claimed that "new improvements have been made in textures and engines" only and that Crysis' huge budget and PC exclusivity make it the best looking game out there.

    I assure you that no amount of money would have given Crytek the ability to time travel and build Crysis with DirectX 11 before it even existed. On PC, games like The Witcher 2, Crysis 2 (with patches) and Metro 2033 utilize DirectX 11 technology, which simply wasn't around in 2007 when Crysis was released. Also, The Witcher 2 uses ubersampling and Metro uses tessellation. Once again, neither of these technologies were used by Crysis.

    Modding is completely irrelevant in this case, since Crysis 2 can also be modded to bring some stunning results. Besides, even The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion can be modded to look like Crysis... Skyrim can be modded to look even better.

    In short: a fully updated PC version of Crysis looks (in my opinion) better than Crysis 2. However, a fully updated PC version of Crysis 2 is more technologically advanced and runs on better software, as well as requiring better hardware to run on ultra. Arguing whether CryEngine 2 or CryEngine 3 is better is something completely different and unnecessary if we take mods into consideration.

    For the developement of Crysis 2, Crytek realized that their CryENGINE 2 required simply too much processing power for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to handle. Thus, they set out at a very early stage of development to optimize the CryENGINE 2 for console use while still maintaining the signature physics engine and shine that the original retained. While not as graphically stunning as CryENGINE 2, the CryENGINE 3 sported support for consoles, and despite its inability to match up with the old engine in terms of looks, still topped the charts as the best looking game engine to date on seventh generation consoles.
    Altough I did infact mean visually the best not technically. Altough what I ment was kf the orignial engine made use lf the new tech. As you said at the time dx 11 or ubersampling was not avalible. :)

    I hope you do realize that in a way it's bad to have amazing graphics. Yes that sounds weird but think about it. How many people could run Metro 2033 on steam compared to the amount who can run say Natural Selection 2? A huge difference. If you have a game that has graphics that makes real life look like mario then you're going to have barely any sales (By video game standards). My friend used to run Crysis 2 on medium. Then they released some updates and he can't run it at all. I feel bad since he bought it when it first came out and he said if he knew that the updates would make it unplayable he would have never bought it.

    Tell him to disable hi res textures and it will run just like when he first bought it. -__-
    Metro 2033 and crysis will run at low even on garbage comps.

    And garbage computers can't run anything for example mine.

    6150se. Nuff said, but I'm getting a new computer around march. Spending about $1,000 on it. Should be able to run games like BF3, PS2 on max or uber ultra.

    I meant a comp that costs like 300us dollars. My 600 bick pc can max everythibg 'secpt aa on crysis.

    This is exactly what graphics settings (low, medium, high, very high, ultra) are for. :eek:hwell: Also, Crysis 2 launched without DirectX 11 support which shocked many PC gamers. This was later patched into the PC version of the game... your friend probably just didn't realize and hasn't disabled the new graphics options. :p
