Did anyone else enjoy thing game on the Gamecube? I know a lot of people didn't like it due to the gameboy advance requirement. However, I have really fond memories of playing it with my friends for hours on end. I wish they would have done more with the game and not just left in by the wayside when it was unsuccessful.

Unsuccessful? Crystal Chronicles led to five more games being based on the same world. That sounds like a success to me. The game was different, nothing special, but it wasn't bad.

Honestly although more obscure than other games in the series, I would say that it actually was really successful for the niche' it was targeting, and in fact in branched out to additional games. Final Fantasy Tactics for example although very successful only got a few additional continuations and some questionable "alternatives" that were supposedly based on the same concept.

I did really like the game, but unfortunately the down-side was not a lot of my other friends did, so it made it hard to find others to play with and ultimately went into a state of no-one playing the game, *sigh*

Wow. I actually never even heard about these games, and I like to consider myself a FF fan... I think the fact that it's not that popular or well known may be linked to the fact that in that era most Final Fantasy fans owned a PS 2, and didn't expect a FF game on a Nintendo cosole. And since there weren't any FF games on the nintendo consoles for a while before this came out, Nintendo gamers weren't fammiliar with the series so they didn't buy it. I am probably horribly wrong, and the reasons were completly different, so take this with a grain of salt.

Also, I would imagine the requirement to have a game-boy would hinder the games popularity quite a bit too...

I enjoyed that game a lot. Not having friends to play with me at the time however, I went through the game solo. Playing alone is fun, but it can be a very repetitive. While the absence of teammates will make strategy a bigger issue, some aspects are simplified. Spell fusion, for example, is infinitely easier when you can fuse spells in your own command list, but the cost is that the highest-level spells are unattainable. A single-player campaign is far more difficult than multiplayer, but that challenge really adds to the experience.

I know there are sequels to the game, but they never really grabbed me. Really looking forward to Final Fantasy Explorers for the 3DS in the future though!

Never had a Gamecube when it came out. I eventually catch up to some of the better games that were on that console when I got a Nintendo Wii thanks to the backwards compatibility.
That being said I briefly played one of the CC games, the one that was on the Wii to be precise. It's alright honestly. I think this kind of spin off games has potential and I hope to see some more in the future.

I didn't even know the Gamecube had a Final Fantasy game for it...wow, I'm really behind on the times. I guess it was because most of my friends that had that console was mainly playing it for Animal Crossing and the Resident Evil Remake. I guess I should go fish out my purple lunchbox out of storage and pick up a copy of the game to see what it is all about...
