Hey guys, just wanted to let anyone who didn't already know that Curse has released the non-beta version of their Curse voice client. I've been using it with my friends the past week and a half instead of skype, and I have to say I really like it.

It's less intrusive, takes up less resources, it has it's own dedicated servers that are used in the voice chatting, and of course the entire thing is free. It also adds a bit of an overlay into the game, just enough to let you know whos speaking.

There's also a web version for those who temporarily want to use it.

For those interesting, just head over to curse.com.

Yeah, and they have done some misleading stuff to get people to try it. Those looking for addon management are installing the voice client by mistake. This is by design on the curse side of things.

I can see people using like something like curse even with the pushy launch. I don't see any good reason to use a cluster like Skype for game communication though.

The name of the app made me think it was like a voice emulator or something. I had other thoughts as well, but it's just a communication app for gamers. How much better is is than the in game communication tools?

I can't stand when companies do that. The crazy thing is that a lot of legitimate companies who have good products seem to do it. I don't get why they do it when the product is good enough to get popular organically.

The sad fact is that they do it because it works. Some of us get mad and stay clear of the product, but far more get sucked in and use it. As long as the tactic continues to work companies will continue to use it.

As much as I liked the curse voice client before I think sticking to more known and stable voip options will be better for me in the meanwhile

When compared to Skype, I think its the better option. In Skype one of you has to host the call, which can lead to lag problems for that person.

Dedicated servers help prevent this. I will admit though, that sticking to the more known ones, like Ventrilo, or Teamspeak would be ideal, but then you need to pay for a server.

I actually didn't know there was a web version of curse. I'll have to check that out soon. I've been using the desktop client since it was in beta and my group of friends greatly prefers it over Skype. Although none of us have tried anything like Mumble or Teamspeak for League. There's honestly no point to try it considering how easy and bug free Curse Voice seems to be for us.

I think something like this is way better than skype too. It might not be noticeable to some who have fast computers but if you play on an old laptop like mine the smallest differences are felt very easily. I'll have to try this out myself and see if it's better.

I used it a couple of years ago when it first launched and it was pretty good, I may give it another shot since I love its integration in League of Legends.

My thoughts on it is that it's... Pretty good! It's much, much, MUCH better than Skype, at the very least, but my pals still prefer to use Discord over anything. I'm actually not a huge fan of Discord so I'm hoping Curse can become the ultimate voice client and blow Discord out of the water.

Or, well, at least enough so that my friends don't use it anymore.
