Here are some before/after shots of the props that DeltaRiley62 made for his Ranger costume for Fan Expo 2013


In upper left corner of the table is a blue Nerf Gun, front centre is a black cigarette case and on the right hand side is a magnetic message board, watch what happens...


The blue Nerf gun becomes "The Bastard" complete with real 7.62mm rounds


Here it is from the user's perspective... when he brought it to the weapons check, the inspector just about laid an egg "You can't bring a REAL gun to the Con!" and proceeded to call security...it took quite a while to calm him down and get him to read the side of the receiver that still read "Nerf" LOL


Here is the skeleton of one of the mags (3 in total) for the Bastard it started off as an aluminum sheet from a printing press, then folded into a shape that perfectly fit the receiver of the Nerf gun, even to point of allowing a round to be chambered by moving the slide


Then the cigarette case got a new cover laminated onto it, making it a standard-issue personal first aid kit


This is the finished journal, minus the lighter and a few cartridges that are added later

 

Thanks, I'll pass that along to him...he really is a genius at fabricating props from everyday items, a real artist
