I'm late (very late) posting this but i can't see any threads so i'll do it anyway. The game is just flat out too easy. Ammo is soo abundant i'm not even bothering to pick it up and i can't, enemies are blind as bats and deaf (though good when they DO see you) and weapons are all of equal usability.

Ammo is my biggest problem - rats could be hard to kill if ammo was rare but it just isn't. Every enemy drops 6 or so bullets, on hardcore, which if twice what a decent marksman takes to kill them and even on range hardcore you can easily make a profit through killing people. I think the one time i ran out of ammo was my shadow ranger playthough when i forgot to bring any guns execpt a revolver to kill the boss (the rhino or something, the cave one).

Enemies are blind and deaf. Surely i needn't explain to anyone and i have some excellent screenies to show if anyone is unaware of this. You can literally stand in someones face and jump, the only response you get is "hmm? Better lay of the 'shrooms". Although it should be noted 4A did very well with the combat AI as it proficiently uses cover etc alas it is still no match to even a revolver as if you stand in the shade you become invisible.

All weapons are equaly good, in fact i would say the kalash 2012 is one of the worse ones due to its high fire rate and low damage. The bastard can easily defeat the most armored enemies and the revolver remains in use throughout even if not upgraded. I saw no reason to use the valve or the preved as a simple kalash could headshot any foe insta-killing them and preved ammo is the one type completely absent from the world.

Now it should be stated that mutants are still dangerous and there have been vast improvements there but the humans appear to have all had their eyes gouged out. There have been improvements over 2033 but i think the removal of the red->yellow->green concealment system and some efforts to make everyone able to play stealth have impacted the game in a negative fashion.

I do love metro, else i wouldn't be here, and sincerly hope that my concerns are recognised as i would hate for the series to go away (fortuantely i think it isn't as LL did very well :D).

I agree with you about everything, but you've so far thrice managed to overlook signs that you should post this thread here, where I have moved it, and not in the Suggestions&Concerns.

What I did when playing LL (after several times of killing an entire squad silently) was just shoot like crazy to get everybody's attention to raise up the difficulty. I did run out of bullets just like you with "the cave one," and several time I did find myself low on filters for my frequent and long, "ahhhh," moments as I gazed upon the beautifully destroyed outside world of Metro :).

Yes, both Metro games are on the easier side of gaming spectrum and both had issues with stealth--either it was not working very well or it was just too effective. Ammo will not be an issue in levels with human enemies as you are able to loot back what you expend, or switch weapons for those commonly used in that level. Mutant levels will test your ability to conserve ammo quite well.

The thing that bothered me was that there was over-abundance of loot opportunities, e.g ammo cartridges, magazines, ammo crates & caches, weapons of fallen enemies, yet when you loot them you get is measly 1 or 2 bullets. How stupid it is to pick up AK74 mag to receive 1 bullet?
On the other hand, if you remove 75% of all loot drops and make each one you find count, you risk situation where the game feels barren and empty--just like The Last of Us on Survivor difficulty (90% of rooms and shelves you search are empty).

I think that the game certainly shouldn't have started you with 200+ MGR's, and that all of the ammo caches had their MGR counts reduced, as well as reducing the amount of MGR's found on each person. There's practically no reason to use anything else as ammo as all of the other kinds have ridiculous limits as well as low damage and penetration ability, and can't even be seen in your inventory on Ranger Normal. A silenced AR with MGR's will pretty much walk you through the entire game, with shotguns giving some additional utility through your extra capacity for shotgun shells. (why can I carry 60 shells, but only 48 BB's?) Gone are the times of scavenging every last corner for ammo of every type to pool into the gun you really need, here are the times of selling everything you own for MGR's. Because if you need it, you'll find it without all that much effort.

Don't get me wrong, LL still did a lot of things exceptionally well, especially when it came to fixing issues from 2033. But it also broke a lot of the things along the way that made 2033 so damn magical. (Ranger mode.......... >.>)

Metro 2033 and Last Light both get the Ammo Count right. I do agree that the ammo limit restrictions seem arbitrary and are not enjoyable. We are scavengers to a point, with all those pockets and a big backpack. Any space available would be filled to the brim with ammunition.

The damage done by each weapon also feels right. A headshot should be lethal. The various assault rifles are more side upgrades than actual vertical improvements. This makes sense with the fact they use the same ammunition in the game. Whereas instead of brute damage increase... things like silenced fire, ROF, accuracy, and control are the differing attributes. Also I am sure the visual differences are appealing as well.

The stealth system is slightly underwhelming in Last Light compared to 2033. With the removal of the three stages in favor of two. Though all in all , the stealth gameplay is still very enjoyable.

Ranger mode in Last Light is engaging and fun, but also a disappointment. Obviously reasons have been given for it's DLC status, but that really is unacceptable when people go around saying that's how the game is supposed to be played. The other problem is the restriction of two firearms. In 2033 you could carry three weapons, no real reason for this to have changed. Also in Hardcore you should still be able to see basic info like ammo counts (Could place it on the Journal) and the weapon wheel for secondaries.

The game may be easy to a point, but it is still one of the more interesting, engaging and fun games of this generation.

I agree the damage is right, i would hate for enemies to become big bullet sponges but the problem lies when you can easily eliminate all enemies with little or no resistance. I do believe that the on/off stealth system is to blame for this as on some levels (contagion) it would either be all light or all dark and to make a stealth playthrough possible they chose all dark, in fact most of the game is all dark. The removal of a more ambigous lighting system means enemies are too black and white.
Also i agree ranger hardcore lack of any information was annoying, if its going to cost money they should have added some way to count your magazines or something.
This is my only real gripe with the game as illuminated firefights and mutants are still fun and engaging its just stealth is horrendously easy and you can accidently slip away in a fire fight without even trying.
