Tom Clancy's The Division will hit the market at the end of this year, which is some exciting news. The game looks good, and the mechanics seem solid enough. I'm excited for the game to be released, that's for sure.
Hmm... Well, I guess it's better that Ubisoft delay releasing this title to iron out issues and polish the title, instead of releasing it early. I freshly remember the recent fiascos they have encountered during AC: Unity and The Crew either due to not bug-testing enough, or having a very generic experience. I just hope this title is solid.
I get that some titles legitimately have issues that need extra time to get ironed out, but it's a cop out coming from major developers that have been developing games for over a decade. The difference in quality from a three-month release should be negligible, especially for a game that has had this much time in development.
You have a good point there. I hope this is not a sign that Ubisoft is having issues with the development cycle of this title. I don't want a repeat of what happened with AC: Unity.
They're treating this exactly like how they treated Watchdogs and The Crew. And we see how both those situations turned out. It will sell well no doubt. But it will fall under the same criticisms the Crew and Watchdogs received.
I just hope that the end result is actually good. Watching the demos and trailers is all well and good but if the game itself is just another buggy average shooter I'm going to be thoroughly disappointed.
I looked up the trailer for the game. While it was interesting to look at, I'm still not entirely sold on getting the game. I'll wait a bit after the game is sold and see what others have to say as well as watch gameplay videos before making the jump to buy it.
I am personally very excited for the game. I trust in Ubi and think that it's looking really good so far. Can't wait for the end of 2015
It's coming in 2016, guys. Ubisoft has too many games already this year anyways: the new Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six are already big games from them coming in a few months. It's a good choice to release it in 2016 I think, because it's gonna sell more thanks to the fact that there will be less big titles around to worry about during whichever release period they'll choose.
It's good they've decided to delay the launch a little bit. Not only because of the new games that they're going to put out this fall, but also in case there are any bugs that'd make the gameplay less desirable.
Absolutely, there's never a downside when a developer has more time to work on their game. All the better, in fact. I hope it comes out in a functional and playable state.
From what I've read a lot of people are pissed about this decision, especially the ones who pre-ordered the game. Now, this was the situation with the delayed GTA V release as well so I wouldn't worry too much. The circlejerk will die down eventually.
I'm 100% for delaying a game if that time is going towards polishing the game. Far too often games release broken and buggy as hell. With a game this size, they can have as much time as they need.
Yeah, as Amazon XD said above me, if it means they can flesh it out more and make it as good as possible, then delay it. If they're delaying it for other reasons though, then it becomes an issue.
There are so many games to play, it never bothers me when a developer pushes back a game release. It's not like they want to do it, and it's definitely not a decision they take lightly. Remember, they're in the business of selling games and they aren't doing that while a game is being developed. There has to be a very good reason to push it back, because there are major financial impacts to the company releasing it. I disagree. A developer doesn't push back a drop date for negligible reasons; there has to be a major financial reason as to why they agreed to push it back. Ubisoft won't be sitting back twiddling their thumbs during that time, they will be using those 3 months to the max (and probably hope they had even more time). Whatever work is done to the game in that time span will make for a better game overall and that's never a bad thing.
They need to push this back to at least Q2 2016. Pushing this game too fast without proper beta testing is going to be a failure. we see this happen all too often...
