Some people claim there's an ELO hell, while some do not. Their explanation? You deserve where you are if you can't carry yourself out of that tier. I don't particularly agree with that statement. In order to win in league, you must have full cooperation with your team so you could gank lanes, get dragon or baron, catch someone on their team, and so on. You can't have a team that feeds all the lanes when you have 10 kills; that doesn't guarantee you to win. If you do want to win the game, you have to pick someone that can snowball extremely well, and do tons of damage before they can even CC you.

Do you believe in ELO hell?

I don't believe in Elo Hell. At the very start of the season I flunked my placement matches; I lost all but 2 of them. Thus, I was placed in Bronze IV. It was awful yes; there were trolls, feeders, afkers. However, even the trolls and feeders wanted to win deep down. They may say to themselves they don't care, they don't want to win, they're tired of this stupid game, they can't do anything, etc. But lets be real. If they actually believed those things they wouldn't be playing ranked. I have found that even the worse trolls stop trolling if you just tell them they can win/you lead them to victory (although not using those exact words). Once you show you know what you're doing and lead then your team will generally follow. (Although it is like leading a herd of very dumb sheep at times)

It took a LONG while, but 500 or so games later I'm Plat II. So no, I don't believe elo hell is a thing. You are where you deserve to be.

I believe in psychological ELO hell.

Meaning, actual ELO hell doesn't exist, but in the case of people in the silver league thinking they belong in gold, or golds thinking they belong in plat, etc., it's a valid construct to them.

The complaints generally come from people who haven't played enough games for the law of large numbers (four potential baddies on your team and five on theirs means in the long run your teams will be better (assuming you are better than your placement)) to take effect, or for people who judge their own performance inaccurately.

In order to win in LoL you need to have a good team, being a good teammate yourself increases your chances of winning rather than someone who's not.
I don't know what people mean by ELO hell, yes there is a point where at a certain elo most people are awful and I guess that that is what you can call elo hell, but there's nothing more to it than that.

Not actually, I think that if you are good enough you'll get out of your division fast enough.
I also have some proof, when pro players play as a smurf they don't get stuck in Bronze, they get out of it pretty easy to be honest.

If you get stuck in a division, it might be your sole fault for being there. I personally was in Bronze 5 at the very beginning but upon simmering down my vocabulary and actually playing, I reached Plat!
So, no, ELO hell doesn't exist.

I will tell you the exact location of elo hell. The place where you think you deserve to be higher than and you haven't proved it. There is a reason that you are in the division you are in. If you watch your replay and show me zero mistakes throughout the entirety of the game, I will personally fund an LCS team for you to play in, because there is no one better than you in the world. Your Elo Hell must be that you can't actually go any higher because you are rank 1 challenger.

No, I think that as long as you deserve that certain rank you're going to get there no matter what.
You may lose some games because of your team but your rank shouldn't be decided by that.

I agree on the idea of psychological ELO hell, but there's no place where you will always fail because of your teammates. All too often I see players claiming "I'm actually like a Gold 2 player, but my team always sucks." I made it up to Gold IV and that's where I stayed. I know that I'm just a pretty average player, and I got there with some luck and some skill. If you are a showboater and you always need to be the carry, there's probably a reason you are in the range of "ELO hell".

ELO Hell is a concept that doesn't really exist since ELO has been taken out of the game since early season 4.
The concept of Elo hell is just a concept created to help excuse whatever mistakes we've made.
It's an arrogant concept, created by sore/salty losers. Granted, you won't always win your games, but you should be able to help carry/carry your team if you're good. Even if they themselves are inherently bad.

I think that it exists but in a much smaller capacity to what the bronze V's would have you believe. If you're in Bronze V full of feeders and trolls then it's going to be harder to rank up because the outcome of every game is going to be a flip of the coin. If you get your s**t together and play well, you're going to 'escape' relatively easily though.

If you believe in it, then it exists for you.

I believe you settle into your right place and anyone complaining is just not that skilled but want a higher rank. Of course there are probably some anomalies as there is an elements of luck to it all but I believe that with enough of an effort and enough skill you can override bad luck and get to your rightful place one way or another.

I don't think your rank should be decided by that. You'll get there if you are good enough. There is no way you will fail only because of your teammates. You have to be the unluckiest person in the world.

It has to be real because on four different accounts, I am yet to pass platinum 2 elo. It's sad when you can have 400+ games in one rank for a season.

Like @Punpun said, it's more of a psychological game. In the end you should try to improve on your game rather than rant about how other people play. I've always had this mindset where if you're not good enough to carry your team, then you're not ready to advance.

I don't think that ELO hell exists. If a player is skilled enough and has a good attitude, he will be able to win much more games than he would otherwise do. Trolling teammates are not an excuse as well. Just by not trolling, you reduce the chance of having a troll in your team by 20%. Just be nice with your teammates, don't judge them hard and you'll see how much more wins you will get.

Yes, I also don't believe there's an ELO hell, your statements are pretty much true, LoL is a team game, but also don't fool yourself into the trap that says you can win only with high class players. You also need some skill, if you have it, you'll eventually get those high skilled players as team mates.
