Do you ever get tired with the open-endedness of the game?

I know the freedom of the game is one of the most attractive features, but do you ever get bored with it?

When you spend to much time in a game, you'll start to get bored, it's completely normal. So answering your question, yes, after spending too much time on it.

well apart of the appeal of RPGs is especially the vast amounts of choices you can make, that can change the outcome of the ending (see Mass Effect), so no, to me more linear story lines are boring...

No, I really don't get bored. I actually start new characters, but I really don't get too bored with a lot of games. I think that if you really like a game you will like it no matter what, but many do get bored. I have not been the one to get bored I just love to play.

In contrast to open ended games, try playing a game where you play in one room over and over and over... yeah, some people simply do not know he or she has it good, until what he/she had is no longer available or gone. So enjoy these open ended games, because people in the early days of video games, had limited [but challenging] games like Pong and Space Invaders only.

It's been such a long time since I even finished a game, I hardly remember what it's like. I think the last thing I finished was Morrowind so I don't really notice the open-endedness any more.

I like the open endedness, so long as the main campaigns have endings. In other words, one story arc eventually ends which may or may not affect the overall open game world and may or may not affect other story arcs. I prefer it that way.

The endgame is much better when you play it with friends. I usually play with my girlfirend and we plan to create a new character soon. Right now both of us are farming gold cus we want our new character to be fully geared up as soon as possible, so he/she won't have to go through the gear-treadmill and all the dungeon grinding as my main did.

Sometimes it is boring to play a game where you can basicly do whatever you want. There must be challenge and enough missions to keep a player busy.

Yeah. I got bored of skyrim so quickly because I was just running around the world killing different creatures that had the same abilites. The game was so repetitive. Glad I don't play it anymore.

Every game gets boring. A big, open map doesn't prevent that from happening.

sometimes too much freedom is a turn off for me. when there are so many things to do m problem is that i can never dedicate myself to one activity. It could go either way though it depends on the game for me.

It's weird, often for me, I have an aversion to open-ended games both at the start, then after I've settled in. At the start, I don't know what I'm doing, and am frustrated with the lack of direction. Basically, I have no idea where to start. Eventually, as I get the hang of the lore/controls/storyline/characters etc, I start to get in to it, and enjoy the range of choices. It means I can have several play-throughs and make unique characters each time. As time goes on, however, it can feel like everything in the game is sort of meaningless.

I get bored of it eventually because I like the feeling of resolution getting things done makes the journey all that much better. Sure its nice to have free reigns to do as you please for as long as you want. But after a while it feels like your doing all this for nothing like no greater purpose is being served.

Yeah I do sometimes but for the most part no. I tend to enjoy the big world especially when it's really engaging and full of surprises like in Skyrim. But on other games like ACIV, it's almost always a chore to explore the game and there's no solid rewards.

Yes I do. Most RPG games are really huge to the point that it's tiring to explore. I specially hate it when games tend to make you travel really far distances first before you can warp to it. It's annoying.

Not all the time. It really depends. Some games like Rift are unnecessarily large with not much to do. That's the worst thing about them.

It depends, sometimes I got bored quickly. But there are also things that it's fun to explore the world.

Depends on how the game is set up. If there's multiple storylines to explore in the world then it's entertaining for a while since replayability is what makes it appealing. However once almost all or all options are explored, a game will lose its appeal. It's one of those things where if you spend too much time on it, it loses its enjoyment.
