Do you love mining?

Mining is one of the main elements of Minecraft. That's why Mine is in the video game's name. However, I've never really been too down with it. Never been into digging and stuff. I like it, but I love building a lot more than mining. :D

    What about you?

I'm okay with it but it can get a tad bit tedious at times. Especially since the bedrock is far under the ground but I'm alright.

I hate it sometimes, but it totally pays off when you find Diamonds, Gold, Spawners, and the Stronghold!! But if you don't find anything, its boring!

Well, it's pretty simple in that you just grind away. It's hard to form an opinion on something that really eats away at your patience, but it's all worth every time you get a gem or gold lol.

I really don't like mining for the fact that it takes time. But I like trying to maximize efficiency by using specific plans before mining.

It's kind of the main element of the game. It is called minecraft! ;)

Having said that, I hate mining. I'd rather explore abandoned mineshafts and assorted caves to find ores.

If I'm mining for materials it's kind of a chore, but if I'm mining to build something underground it can be quite fun.

I really love mining, but only until a certain point. I like the thought that at any moment a gold or diamond ore could appear. I also find the risk appealing. Mining always runs the risk of dying and losing all of your things; either to a mob, or burning in lava. It is also one of my main priority every time I start a new session to obtain obsidian. (I love going to the nether!)

Mining is fun when you don't do it for too long. Usually I get a buddy and we create a huge mine and find lots of diamonds.

I totally agree mining is so monotonous and time consuming. That's why I prefer mods like buildcraft so that I can make quarries. There is a bit of initial digging but it's an exponential growth once you have one quarry, you work to make the second then the fourth and so on. Then you can focus on what you want and not what you have to do.

I don't usually play with any mods on survival mode, so I end up grinding away and mining for hours on end. Once you get a diamond pickaxe (or two), you can burn through a big area pretty quickly. Only thing is that you have to use up some precious diamonds to make those pickaxes. I'm interested in the quarry system though, Rhodie, and I'll definitely be checking that mod out. Could speed up a whole lot of things for me if I get that working!

I feel like I achieve a certain level of catharsis from mining. The progress you make after clearing out a large area just feels good, gaining ore as a reward doesn't hurt either. I really have to hand it to Notch though, the sound effects and actual graphics of mining are really quite pleasant...the sound of the pick hitting stone and blocks breaking is music to my ears.

Yeah mining can be a bit tedious, but its not so bad because you never really know what you'll find behind the next rock layer so it can be exciting at the same time. I think the best thing to do is find a stable way to get diamond picks and shovels so that it doesn't take up too much time. For me that would involve getting some kind of villager farm and some other resource farm (maybe cane/paper farm) to trade for emeralds, and then to use those emeralds to get diamond for the picks, or just to buy the picks outright.

Of course we're MINEcrafters. I love seeing what I can find deep down on each area of the map. You can find abandoned mines and I even found an abandoned underground castle. Cool stuff to be had if you look for it.

I prefer Creative mode for the exact reason that I can instantly build anything and anywhere I want, without the tedious waiting associated with mining blocks, and micromanaging pickaxes.

I'm actually a big fan of mining in survival mode. In creative mode, it seems like a relatively useless activity.

Anywho, I'm quite fond of the idea that you come up with SO MUCH stone, and not much of anything else. I think it adds to the game that you have to dig for so long to find the decent materials.

Of course, now that they've added chasms within the maps, it's a lot easier to find materials. Find yourself a chasm, get a bucket of water so that you can swim up and down, and simply mine the materials you need. No biggy.

Mining is one of the best aspect of the game, I can spend a few days underground just mining and laying out a path so I know how to get out and back in. Also the great amount of joy you get from finding an ore that you have been looking for.

I don't really mind mining too much, it's worth while if you actually find something, but with those times that you don't mining does get boring. I like to make rooms when I mine. I swear I have about 7 different rooms on different floors that I just mine in. I like using different techniques while mining, like strip mining and stuff like that. I do totally agree with what you said though, building is a lot more fun then mining.

I enjoy mining, but it can be pretty tedious/unrewarding. I hate wasting my time digging and digging without getting my materials worth.
