Do you prefer exploring or building?

Well you have to explore in order to build sometimes
I love to do both, and exploring for new materials or location makes building that much more fun, plus you're rewarded either way, can't go wrong with either in my opinion.

 

I prefer to do exploring. I'm not much of a builder myself, I have problems thinking of designs for new builds, so I usually cave. Finding resources is also important, right? I also like to explore the different biomes around my base, but I always bring my bed with me just in case I can't come back to my base before nightfall.

 

I like to be able to walk around a familiar area and felt at-home with my world. I don't like to explore much unless i'm looking for some kind of off-base location or such.

 

I like exploring, just heading off in one direction and seeing all of the randomly generated biomes just spring to life. But I also like building large structures, such as nuclear power plants or fortresses.

 

The two are synonymous. But I like exploring more.

 

I like exploring more. They go hand in hand because you inevitably have to build something.

I prefer building. I guess it's because I have something I can show people when I'm done, but looking at the naturally generated land isn't too interesting for me.

 

I like to explore a lot more than build. I don't even build houses in minecraft so much anymore. I just find a good stone wall and carve a little base in there. If I can't find one, I would just dig stairs going down to the ground. I would most likely make my big base at around y:20 so I can go down to 16-4 for diamond mines.

 

I explore to build. Building is my passion though. If I ever get bored of building/run out of ideas, then I go ahead and explore caves and such. Expanding what you build to where you explore is fun also!

 

I prefer exploring since, I'm not much of a builder. I always seem to get builders block so my creations aren't much. I do however, enjoy watching my friends build things because they are pretty awesome at it.

 

I love exploring, but to me, I explore to build. I need the resources so that I can create a masterpiece. So really, when I say I love exploring, I'm basically saying I love building. Exploring is just the first part to start building. Exploring has always been a big aspect of Minecraft and the main reason why I love to play it. But really, exploring just leads to more building, so I can't really divide the two apart because ultimately, they're the same thing.

 

I think for the first time playing the game, I would say exploring, get a feel of what the game is before you get into the building, I rather much prefer building because I play the game to construct a solid empire to keep me safe at night.

 

I prefer exploring most of the map until I find the perfect location for whatever I'm trying to build, especially if it's going underground. I love exploring the random generated maps because some of them are pretty darn awesome. I don't really like starting out by building right away.

 

I really enjoy both, but I think I enjoy exploring more. Building is fun, but there's just something great about finding an awesome looking mountain or a huge forest or a vein of diamond while mining.

 

BUILDING hands freaking down..

I have whole worlds dedicated to building different types of things..

 

I prefer building. Mostly I like to set up my own little world and not deviate unless I need something. I also do a lot if mining underneath my house so I don't have to go too far for rarer materials. I'll explore occasionally but I like to go during the day or set my world to peaceful so that I don't die from mobs (because I almost always die like that).

 

I like both, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be building just because you can really let your mind go to work and put in as much detail and time into one creation as you would like to. But I also really enjoy exploring because you never know what you're going to find when you're out and about.

 

I totally agree with you. I would much rather become stronger in the game since I mostly play SMP, and building is pretty useless since you're bound to be griefed and raided. I like to make my base all the way underground at like level 20 or something so that I'm close to a lot of ores and no one can find me unless they have cheats.
