Do you see mods coming to the consoles?

Perhaps not in their current form, but Microsoft will likely make some of the more popular mods available for the console versions, not just Xbox consoles either. They could offer a handful of them for download, or simply create a marketplace for mods (a free marketplace, hopefully). That would be pretty cool. It's something that most people expect to happen sometime down the road.

I can't really see them making mods for the game. Although there are a lot of mods, they wouldn't really make any money off of them. I guess if people wanted to create their own mods for the xBox then it would be possible, but I think they would worry about someone trying to hack the xBox through a Minecraft mod. It is possible though I suppose.

No, console games are notoriously difficult to mod and to be honest I don't see it happening. Not only would they need to develop mods for both versions of the game, but they would need to get permission from both Microsoft and Sony in order to host the moded games online.

As far as I'm aware, modding Minecraft on the consoles can be done, at least on the Xbox 360. I am not sure about the Xbox One. But it does void the warranty on the console and it is an extremely complicated process. I saw it like one time somewhere on the internet and didn't really pay it any attention.

I highly doubt mods would ever come to consoles and at this point I feel like Mojang, being a subsidiary of Microsoft now, is developing Minecraft further for consoles rather than PC, since PC has such an active modding scene, even today. Not even counting the FeedTheBeast modpack that most, if not all Minecrafters know and love. Mojang would have to develop a marketplace for mods (such as the Steam Workshop on PC on Steam) for mod distribution, and also create a modding API, much less enabling people to have that kind of people on a console. There are just so many other things they would need to do, and it's really not worth it in the end, unfortunately. To Microsoft, at any rate, because it would have to mess with the core of what Microsoft is... which is money, money, and more money.

I'm sure Mojang would like to do something like that but it'd just be WAY too time consuming for them to do something like that.

well when it comes to this fast moving age of information technology then anything is possible and so mods appearing in consoles would certainly not be a surprise to me.

I'm not talking about the players creating mods specifically for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, etc. I'm talking about Microsoft taking those mods and actually tuning them for the consoles as an official release or DLC (free) option.

    Hahaha!

Firstly, the idea of Microsoft having a 'free marketplace' for mods is ridiculous, since they charge for texture packs. If they charge for something so trivial as that, then there is no chance they wouldn't charge a lot more for mods.

Secondly, I doubt that the potato consoles would be able to run 99% of mods, especially since they can hardly run vanilla Minecraft at a decent render distance and the fact that mods would need to be recoded in order to be compatible with the console version which uses a different coding language.

Microsoft are notoriously opposed to modding

I really doubt it considering Microsoft charges for patches and they couldn't charge for them. Maybe if they buy the rights to the mods and can charge for them but otherwise no.

Not really. Modding is possible but very difficult ATM, but once they finish the API I really hope it will work on the consoles too. I don't expect it to take off very much, like it does on PC.

Mods are almost definitely not coming to the console. I don't know how it would work if they did, the server side stuff is going to have to be PC based just because in the current state of MC you can't set what mods you have to have to join a server, without heavy server side modding.

I highly doubt they would bring any sort of modding to consoles. The only way I would see it working, is if they sell the mods as packs, but they would have to come to some sort of deal with mod developers. To be honest though, now that Microsoft has taken over I don't think they'll even mention mods at all.

Consoles aren't very well known for their modding community :p I think all console users would have a heart attack if they saw how much a mod can change the game

I mean, it's definitely possible, but I think it's highly unlikely. It's already decently difficult to actually build things with those controls, so I certainly wouldn't want anything that would make it harder.

I think it would be really cool to see console mods. I definitely think the selection and quality of mods would be lower, but I think they'll eventually come into existence.

It would be pretty cool to have mods on your console, but it would be pretty difficult. I'm not a coder, so I don't know how to make actual mods. Since you have to code to make mods, I don't know how people would code on their gaming consoles.

I hope so! I prefer the conse over the of any day. I think they should have offered it to begin with. I spent enough money on the game it should ha e had all the perks with it already.

The mods would have to be made the same way the games are made in the first place. The code is written on a PC, then moved over to the console when it's ready to be run. That said, consoles are a very closed system, so I don't think mods would ever work there.

Maybe. Only few I think. If that happens many people will play it on the consoles.

I can imagine some of the most popular mods being packaged and distributed on consoles. I don't think it'll ever have the scope or freedom of the PC modding community. If it ever becomes a profitable proposition, im sure it'll happen. The popularity of the game relies too heavily on the mods for it to be entirely neglected on consoles.

I don't think they'll bring mods over just because a lot of people like them. I don't think there are a lot of people that bought skyrim for PC and didn't mod it, but they never came to the console versions of the game.
