Do you think Minecraft is going to ever have HD graphics?

Since the new development from Microsoft is on the way, do you think that they're going to improve the graphics and change the whole franchise of Minecraft? I surely wouldn't like a change like this.

I don't think Minecraft will ever leave it's current state of graphics (blocks, very pixel-like graphics) because that's just the concept it's been revolving around for years and years. However, there are already a lot of mods that would fix your graphic needs. There's a lot of shaders and resource packs that would make Minecraft absolutely beautiful. You'll just end up needing a good computer to actually keep up a decent performance.

Doubt it. The game made so much money with the whole blocky texture. If they change it, it'll most likely be a texture pack or something.

Why are people always asking if the GFX of Minecraft will go HD or whatever? The design of Minecraft is blocky voxels. Thats its look. If you want HD, get a texture pack, that's why there's that option in the menu

I don't think Minecraft should or will have HD graphics. It just wouldn't look right at all, I prefer how Minecraft looks.

Another terrible question. Vanilla Minecraft is going to look the same in a year, and probably forever. Texture packs and mods fill the void for people that want better graphics and visuals. That's how Minecraft runs, and Microsoft isn't going to change that or make it a Microsoft exclusive for that matter, in case that's your next question.

Nah, probably not. Honestly, the developer probably sees no need for this, as he's already making tons of money. Plus, all the Minecraft fans would probably hate it and stop playing it, because they're so used to it. Those folks who want better graphics take the initiative to download better resource/texture packs, anyway.

What will happen, though, (and what is already happening) are clones of Minecraft being created... both with similar graphics and super sophisticated graphics. I think that's really as far as it'll go, though!

True that! Plus as I mentioned earlier, the game was well known because of its texture!

It really depends on what you mean by HD. I play on a 64 bit system that runs graphics on high and adds amazing looking lighting and experiences to gameplay. The game itself is revolved around the block like feeling, which is why it is so appealing. If they take that away, they have no more niche and would lose money!

I don't think they will do HD of minecraft. If you want to have some HD you can find some mod like Optifine and find a Texture pack that you like.

No. One of the main ideas was pixelated, cube graphic. There is no reason to have HD.

There isn't a reason at all to have HD graphics with a pixelated game. It really defeats the purpose of having a pixelated game in the first place.

There is a misunderstanding what "HD" actually means. In fact, my Minecraft resource pack is in HD and I use Shaders to give it amazing shadows and lighting effects. If you instead mean if Microsoft will ever make the game less blocky and more rounded, it's possible, but I think if Microsoft were to create a Minecraft 2, it would add better module/plugin support, better memory management, a much larger library of things people can make, etc, etc.

Apart from the mods presented above my comment, I don't really see why Mojang would move over to HD graphics. Pixelated, cube-shapes have become the very symbol of Minecraft, and if they would give that away for "next-gen" graphics, I think that they would be making a great mistake, and that they would lose a lot of their player base.

Maybe one day. But it will be a FAR time off outside of some Modding.

It's probably just too taxing right now to push out extreme graphics on something like Minecraft.

And even though creator style games have been around since the PS1 era, they're still considered in the infancy stage.

It already does with certain texture packs but on consoles, no.

Who knows. I'm not sure whether or not that would be a new thing. My understanding is that Terraria is going about doing something like this. I'm curious to see how it will change the game-play and would be equally curious about the impact something like that would have on Minecraft.

IF you mean a compelte redesign of Minecraft I guess not but if I'm not mistake there are already some texturepacks in HD. Those should be what you're looking for.

What players fail to understand is that a game can remain HD while having the pixilated and blocky textures.
