Do you think that Minecraft will get ruined after that, Microsoft bought it for $2.5 Billion?

In 15 of September, Microsoft bought Minecraft for $2.5 Billion dollars. Do you think that Minecraft will fall? I personally think that Minecraft is going to be ruined, but the good thing is that Jeb Bergensten still works in Minecraft development! What do you think?

I would give it time, as Microsoft (while having a lot of ways that they could ruin the game) does have a lot of ways in which they can improve it. Microsoft is a very large company with many resources. This means that they can devote a lot of manpower to performing bugfixes and improving the overall performance of the game engine. This being said, Microsoft may not have the same ideologies as Mojang did and could screw it up content wise, but we will have to wait and see.

For the foreseeable future, Minecraft should remain the same game we've come to know and love. I doubt Microsoft will do too much damage to the game, but we might not see major improvements either. The company could even let Minecraft continue on the path it's been going without making major tweaks for awhile. Who knows?

We have to wait and see. I don't think they will ruin the game, but it might change a lot. They might want to get a lot of money from it, which would mean creating Minecraft 2 and selling it to existent users for bigger profits. Another bad thing that could happen is micro-transaction implementation. Need a stack of diamonds? It could be yours for just $1.99!

They will try to milk so much money from us. You probably will have to pay monthly now. I hope they don't add features like you have to pay to go on other servers and have to pay to change your skin.

I'm not sure actually, I hope not though. But one thing is sure about this, Microsoft will squeeze out as much money as the can. Since they own Mojang now I think it's really not that big of a mess.

Wait and See approach for me.. I'm pretty worried though to be honest, micro$oft has always been about profits above all and sometimes that means they don't care about the end user..

Who knows exactly at this point, they may commercialize it and ruin it or they will realize the massive potential the game has and build upon that and the fanbase it already has which is huge. I think they are going to make it better because they have the money and the resources to do so.

It's possible that microsoft will be able to get bukkit and spigot running again, considering the size of the legal team they could get.

I think they will make it better though, just the creative team that they can allocate for any one game is the likes of blizzard or so. I think they will make a minecraft 2 or a hd version

I hope they don't make either of those. A Minecraft 2.0 would mean that everyone would have to pay for the game again, and an HD version wouldn't really fit in with the style of the game. There's also the problem that throwing more developers at a problem doesn't mean that it would be solved any faster, because everyone working on the project would have different opinions on how everything should be done, so they'll probably spend more time arguing than actually getting anything done.

I don't think they will ruin it. I've never heard of Microsoft ruining any games. At best they could just optimize it and make it run faster! I'm sure they'll make very good changes to minecraft.

No I think it will just improve from this point. I just hope they don't try to start selling it for more than what it's worth. I like to think that they will be rolling out updates even faster than the original team and creators. When a company like Microsoft buys something for that much you can be sure they aren't going to ruin it. I think the people that are freaking out are ridiculous and should calm down.

I'm not really sure about that. Let's just wait and see what will Microsoft do in order to make Minecraft more beautiful than before.

I actually think it will be improved, considering that Microsoft can do a lot more.

I don't think they'll ruin Minecraft, as they only bought it, not replacing its workers. If anything, I can only hope that it improves much more, since Microsoft is one of the biggest companies, compared to the independent company Mojang once was.

I don't actually know if it has fallen or not since I stopped playing a while ago, I just seemed to get a bit bored so I only really play to play a minigame.

I don't think that there will be that many differences.

Hopefully not. Many people dislike the fact that Microsoft currently owns the game. But if Microsoft is smart, they won't do anything to mess up the game. They should focus on keeping the game lego-like, which was what Notch was intending to do. If Microsoft does do that, then Minecraft won't really become a problem. Plus, a majority of the Mojang team is still a part of Minecraft!
