Do you think they will improve the animations?

While this thread might seem superficial, I think good animations are very important for immersion and suspension of disbelief. Both Fallout 3 and New Vegas had absolutely terrible animations ( like every other Bethesda game ever ) that would break your immersion as soon as someone moved in the game. I don't mind the slightly dated graphics, but animations are pretty important for me.

As the title says, do you think they will improve on them ? I sure hope so.

I think they will, but even if they don't you shouldn't worry because once graphics mods start rolling out all problems we have with graphics and animations will be long gone.

There will probably be patches as we go on, though I don't think Bethesda has EVER been good with facial and or human animations.

Aaaaand.... they didn't. Humans still animate like a bunch of sticks glued together. Or, in other words, stiff like hell.

There will certainly be patches but I highly doubt any of them will deal with the bad animations.

You're exaggerating. I think it's way better than how it was in the previous games, they did a really good job improving the animations up to a decent standard. Your character moves in a way that playing in third person is now not so jarring anymore.

Yeah they improved them from terrible to bad, that does nothing for me. Not to mention all the annoying clipping problems.

I always felt about these games that "it's not about the money, it's about the message" in a sense that Bethesda values a great game a lot more than graphics and I myself am that way, but it seems they were shooting for mass appeal this year as well and I have to that they need a groundbreaking graphical engine if they want to pull that off.

Its because they use the playable models for animations, which makes it more difficult. would You rather have a loading screen, then go to a cut scene that has good animation, then load screen again, then back to the game? I prefer no cut scenes

I agree, loading screens sorta break the immersion of huge open world like the one in Fallout. I remember Dragon Age games having this and I always felt like they just gave a mirage of freedom while actually constraining you.

I don`t really have any issue with the animations of the NPCs. They are believable enough for me and don`t break my game experience at all. As for Bethesda improving upon them. I don`t really think so. But I`m sure modders will release mods that improve upon the animations, once the Toolset releases.

I think the animation will be just fine. Especially because it was good in 3.

Not really. They were universally agreed upon to be terrible.

Yeah, but from what I saw in the few Fallout 4 clips, they feel slightly better? I don't know, I still haven't played, but I think animation aspect is really small compared to some other possible problems a game might have that might require to be fixed quickly via patch.

I noticed some issues with the animations, of course I expected more from this company but it is not something that affects my gameplay, but to answer OP's question. I don't think they will do it, don't get any high hopes.
If the game is moddable then you won't have any problems and expect great stuff from the mod community!

They ARE slightly better, but not much in my opinion. I expected better in 2015.
And I love how people are telling me that gameplay is more important as if I don't know that myself.
