Do you use bots?

I also do not use bots for much the same reason as you but unlike you I did try it out once in Rappelz but found it too boring to just sit and watch and not play myself.

 

If by bots you mean 2nd or 3rd character that you use on autofollow to cast buffs or heals, then I don't see anything wrong with them. I never have less than 2 accounts in any MMO that I play seriously. Reason is that you can do some harder stuff without being forced to group with other players, but you will still want to group if an opportunity arises.

If what you mean are automatic bots controlled by sophisticated scripts, no I never used them. I don't play MMOs to earn real life cash. I play for fun.

 

Nope, never used them and never will. I don't see the point.

 

I used to bot, but now it's just boring and most MMOs have pretty good detection of them now.

 

I have before and I probably will again. MMOs are designed to be a time sink and my time is valuable. I use bots to skip the parts of the game that I dont find to be fun. I didnt enjoy farming rep items in WoW so I botted it instead of spending hours and hours of my time.

I dont regret it or feel bad about it. I dont waste my time.

 

I've never really considered using bots before but I can understand why they appeal to so many people. If you've got a full-time job and real life commitments then you'll get left behind and miss out on the content that you want, bots work around that. At the same time at least for me personally I'd really feel like it would cheapen the experience.

hahaha I think you hit the nail on the head. The only reason I play MMORPGs is because I have too much time!

 

MMORPGs are not a waste of time, they are simply another dimensional reality for players to experience the real world without taking any real risks.

Back to the real world

I never use bots. If I was ever caught using them I think I would be banned but even if I could, I probably wouldn't.

 

In really extreme cases, if something is SO tediously boring that it's just plain not worth it. Things like fishing minigames and whatnot eat up obscene amounts of time with little to no reward for your investment, and can't really be "enjoyed" just for what they are. So I feel justified in using bots for those.

Obviously, if you bot your way through an entire game it's pretty damn pointless.

 

I dont enjoy grinding and farming. What I do enjoy is playing with friends, doing dungeons and PvPing. I just skip the parts I feel boring. No way I could keep up with school and my job without bots.

 

One time I used bots on a few games. I was just trying to build what I had and didn't care. Though, now when I look back on it. I realize that I missed out on a lot for trying to just take a easy way.

 

I get you man, I was just kidding anyways. Grinding and farming can be annoying at times but I think they are part of the charm. Makes other things slightly more interesting.

No. Bots seriously ruin the game. Heck, any advantage that makes the game too easy, ruins the game. Working hard and grinding really makes the game interesting for me. I did like messing around with the bots though. That was fun from time to time.

My brother tried downloading one (without me knowing). Apparently, we also got a virus (probably a keylogger), and I lost my main account that way. Yeah, I'm not too impressed with people who support botting. People are getting screwed one way or another, and I would rather have a game where everyone has the same advantages.

 

No, I don't think it's worth the risk. Sure you'll save some time, but if you do get banned what then? All the hours down the pan because you wanted to get ahead or make some more gold.

 

I've been botting for over half a year in Guild Wars 2 by now. Even though you get good equipment for cheap in game, the game has a lot of gold sinks built into. For example there are so called legendary weapons that casuals are never able to afford without purchasing gold from third parties or being incredible lucky regarding their drops. Because I never had luck in online games and I am not able to farm everyday for hours I decided to start botting. At first I only botted on one account, but shortly after setted up a second account to provide me with gold.

 

I've only used one bot before, and it was on Cookie Clicker, so I don't think it counts.
Needless to say, the game was ruined after I used it.

 

If I have to use bots to play than that game is probably boring the crap out of me. Since it's boring to me, I'll just quit the game altogether and play another one.
