Do you use slime blocks in stead of elevators?

As you might have seen, Minecraft now includes slimeblocks. They boost you up if you jump on them. I thought about making a slime block contraption that would boost me up so I wouldn't have to use stairs or elevators. I believe it would be much easier to reach higher ground with this method. Perhaps you could make use of the new potions that make you jump even higher?

Does anyone have any experience with the slime blocks? Would my idea work?

I have never thought of this, that's a pretty cool idea. :) Care to explain it?

I've yet to use slimeblocks, but this seems like an interesting idea.

You could definitely give it a try, sure. Sounds like a pretty good idea on paper, but you never know until you try it out.

Sounds like a pretty good idea.. Never tried it myself, but I might give it a go sometime. I'll probably stick to traditional ladders, though, haha.

I haven't really found any of those slime blocks, but I'll surely give it a try.

Well, if you use a piston under the slimeblock, you could propel yourself upwards, I think for about 5 or 6 blocks. Using a potion would increase the jump height to about 8 blocks. You would then just make a slimeblock/piston module every 8 blocks and offset it for about two block. You would the run towards the slimeblock, hitting the pressure plate that would fire the piston. You would land on another piston that would propel you ever farther. And so on. Do you understand the concept?

Yeah, jeez I would have never thought of that ha ha. That's more complex than I usually get. I'll try it on my next build. ;)

I tried to make it yesterday but was too lazy to connect the redstone. :p But I've encountered a slight problem. The piston sometimes fires too early, so you hit the slime block in stead of getting propelled. I guess you would have to install repeaters to make it work.

Hm okay. I've never had a good history with repeaters lol.

Interesting concept, and I'm assuming there's a way to make it work. Let me know what other progress you make over the next couple days. I'll have to try it the next time I'm playing and have some spare time.

I just use water. Once you get the controls worked out it's not too hard to do it. I use lava in some too so that if someone tries to break in my house they get a nice hot surprise from the sky. I've never thought about using slime though. Maybe I'll try it.

I don't think I will have time for Minecraft anytime soon. I'm afraid my concept wouldn't work very well due to slimeblocks not being cooperative. It worked fine in my head, but it turned out to be flawed when I tried it in creative. I will tell you about it when I get back to building it though!
