Do you want more weapons for crafting?

I think a spear would be pretty cool to add to the weapons. It would be a distance weapon like the bow and arrow but it would do a lot more damage. Say, a one hit kill for mobs not wearing armor. Like with arrows, you can pick it up again after you throw it, but it would be larger obviously, and easier to find again. They would not stack, so you would have to be a bit choosier about when and where to use it.

 

I agree, they should seriously consider adding other kinds of projectiles. I think your idea of a spear is really good one. My only problem would be that the weapons would need to be unique in some way. It would be kind of a let down if they added new weapons, but they all did the same thing.

 

A hookshot like the one in Zelda came to mind as well. It would be somewhat similar to how the fishing rod currently snags mobs but more powerful. It could also be used to move around but perhaps limited to only sticking into soft blocks like wood or dirt.

 

I don't mind more weapons and tools to craft, but what I really want is 'quality' of the tool besides just the material like diamond, iron, etc. With quality allows an economy to balance itself out. Mind you, I'm talking about a multiplayer server with currency.

Anyway, different types of bows like long bow, short bow, crossbow, etc would be fantastic.

 

Considering Minecraft is kind of more a survivalist type game, i would assume more hand craftable weapons. The spear is a great example. Maybe different kinds of swords, or even a new way to craft them. Just putting a stick and 2 diamonds on the crafting table seems cheap to me. A whole forge system would be really cool, or even just a few more steps than just using the crafting table.

 

Absolutely. I was just thinking about this the other day because I don't like using my sword while riding a horse. A spear of some kind might be incredibly useful both on and off a horse. Also a shield would be incredibly good. There is already a blocking system in place, but with a shield it might actually be useful.

 

I'm more concerned with having more implements for climbing cliff faces. A grappling hook is sorely wanted almost always in extreme hills zones.

 

Good point, i tottaly forgot about horses. Jousting abilities would be pretty awesome, but more than likely too hard to implement. Not very much is optimized in the game for hours riding.

 

I'd certainly like for even the current weapons to be easily used on horseback. Bows aren't so bad, but a sword is next to useless. A Mount & Blade style lance shouldn't be impossible to implement in my opinion.

 

I would like a crazy spear. I love the concept of spears in all of the games i play so i feel them adding it into minecraft would make the game as a whole alot better.

 

I think it's interesting that they provided the means to get a sword and armor, but no shield. Adding a shield could definitely add to the sophistication of the combat. I know combat isn't the main emphasis of Minecraft, but improving it definitely would not hurt.

 

I like the say it stands now. It seems like if you did wake up on a island stranded for a while a bow/sword could be used by nearly everybody. There's no point in adding things such as javelins that nobody would really know how to throw.

 

I'd really like to have all these standard weapons from the first humans like spears and stuff. I'm a modder and created a mod for this in 1.5 but never updated it. But I'd really love to see this as a standard game content.

 

More is always good. I was immediately thinking of a spear too, though in my mind it was a melee weapon with a longer range than a sword, but couldn't be used effectively if the mob would be very close to you. But throwing it seems even better!

 

I don't want any more weapons in the game. I think the game is as fine it is. The one thing I do want to see more of are building materials, its getting boring building with the same old stuff. I hope you share my opinion.

 

Heck yes! Having more weapons will bring some spice to PvP as a whole, because for me, enhancing the multiplayer experience is key for Minecraft's popularity. It's the idea of creating things and doing them with friends that now still interest me in Minecraft's gameplay. The idea being able to approach PvP from different ways other than bows and swords will bring just a tad bit more diversity to how you play the game.

 

I'd love to see some new weapons like spears. But the thing is that there is not much space in my inventory to keep such things. In PvP server it would be a pain to keep a sword, a bow, other weapons, food and potions on your hotkeys. But if there's a wide variety of weapons, players would be able to choose what suits them best and organise their inventory the way they think is the best.

 

I don't think more weapons are really needed. Maybe what others have already said; a spear would be good. Otherwise, I like the way things are as I've already said in some other threads. The way I see Minecraft is like this: Minecraft is for building and just letting all my creativity out. Terraria is for when I feel like going around building crazy weapons and fighting massive demons and monsters!
