Does anyone else think there should be a sequel to FF Tactics?

I've love this game to death and I believe I've clocked over 200 hours in this game. I may be an old game now but the way it was created was just incredible for it's time. I could go on and on about how much I like the game or the awesome stuff it has but I want to hear your thoughts on the subject. Do you think they should make a sequel or at least a spiritual sequel? Also if you have any memories or experiences of the game go ahead and share.

Square loves sequels and it's a mystery to me why they haven't made a sequel to tactics. Maybe it doesn't have a lot of followers? Maybe it did not sell well before? Nevertheless, I think that there should be a sequel to FF Tactics. It was a pretty good game and I think it would be a hit on the current generation consoles.

I've only played the one on the DS, and I absolutely loved it! There wasn't a fantastic story to it or anything - it was a pretty standard RPG 'save the world' affair - but the gameplay was incredible. I love levelling things up, so the system of skills and jobs in place were ideal for me.

I'd love to see a sequel to it though. In my opinion, it's one of the better Final Fantasy spin-offs (Crystal Chronicles is my favourite) and I'd like to see what could be done with newer technology.

It's been awhile since I played the game, but if I remember correctly it was a very enjoyable game I would love to see a sequel, but I would defiantly have to play the 1st one again because I am kind of iffy on the plot.

But, I thought Final Fantasy Tactics had its own series, with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and A2 being its successors. Or am I wrong? They were all great games however, without a doubt. Though I still prefer Fire Emblem or Advance Wars over it, in terms of turn-based strategy games.

It would still be nice to see another entry in the series, though. Possibly a remake of the original entry or one without such a kiddy art style that the "Advance" series had, that I found somewhat deterring.

I loved Final Fantasy Tactics, and am kind of surprised that they didn't make more games in the series. I do definitely prefer Fire Emblem over it, though, especially the newest one for the 3DS. It's such a good game, almost perfect.

Yes you are, I really hated that installment of the game, its a blithe on the franchise that will never be removed, EVER!!!

You're right, although I think a lot of people tend to forget about the handheld games for some reason haha. It might be because they weren't direct sequels to the original PSX game, which I though was a shame to be honest. I loved the original and would've liked to see a proper sequel to that, especially considering FFTA and FFTA2 were quite different in style.

It would be great to see a sequel to the original some day, but honestly I don't think it's going to happen. If they were going to make one, they probably would've done it already. They rereleased the original for PSP a number of years ago, which was a great opportunity to revitalize the franchise, but that didn't end up happening unfortunately.

Well, as others mentioned, there were various FFT games on DS but yeah they were very different.

I think one of these FFT games was even an actual sequel to FFXII? The best thing about it was that Vaan didn't have those weird ass abs.

Yes, there are successors to the original FFT game, but for me they are more like spin-offs than sequels. And I agree with you guys, they should make a sequel to this game, but then again the current generation of gamers are so into action RPGs that the demand for this genre is huge, making turn-based RPGs, particlularly tactical ones, almost becoming extinct.

This is only an issue for companies like Square-Enix that only seem to care about that $$$, because NISA keeps pushing Tactics RPGs constantly (Disgaea) and finds success on both consoles and handhelds. FFT would do even better since it carries the FF name.

You have a point there. It is nice to know that there are still developers that are still keeping turn-based tactical RPG alive, but the fact that big companies such as Square-Enix are afraid to venture once again in this genre because it does not return that much money for them, then this could discourage small companies from making games of this genre.

I think this game did have sequels on the Game Boy Advance and the Nintendo DS? I do remember playing something called Final Fantasy Advance Tactics II on the Game Boy Advance for a while. However, it would be nice to see a title for the series on a bigger console.

Tactics was one of the best games made on the PlayStation. It had a good enough storyline with fun turn-based combat on the grid. I'd play a true sequel to that game, not the ones we got on the DS and PSP. Those weren't real sequels. ;]

I do hope that it has a direct sequel, since Tactics Advance and A2, while good as they are, didn't have the gripping story and seriousness of the original. People have found the original to be a bit messy in regards to translation, but with War of the Lions, it's, in my opinion, has become better. The story, for me, is one of the best in any game I've ever played, and is also led by such a good protagonist. Concept of choosing true good against the false good is great as well.

If that's not enough, the gameplay itself is absolutely enjoyable, especially if you're a fan of games like this.

The story of the Zodiac Braves. I'll never forget it.

A little side note, I'm quite glad that Ramza will be appearing in the upcoming Dissidia game for the PS4. I don't know how that game will turn out, but playing as your favorite character is good in itself, hehe.

Unfortunately I think since their poor attempts at successors to the series weren't that big of hits, I think Square Enix just gave up on them. While Final Fantasy Tactics was an amazing game, I think they're essentially a bit late in making a true successor as most people won't even know what it's from and it would have to be a stand-alone in itself to truly re-engage the fans. It's been too long since their original which is really truly a tragedy, but I always hope and dream they will make a new one, some day!

If you haven't though yet, I would recommend Tactics Ogre which is similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and quite a lot of fun for the PSX with many multiple endings. :)

The mobile game of Final Fantasy Tactics is actually pretty darn good. It's fully from Square Enix. :3

Oh how I didn't realize so many people also loved this game! Yeah I would love an updated one, Tactic games like that are always good to play and it would be nice to have another Final fantasy set one.
