Does the Dominion seem a bit too "Evil" currently

I just recently found out about this game so I have been trying to gobble up as much information as I can as well as show it to as many of my MMO playing friends. Absolutely everyone I have shown so far has said the exact same thing upon seeing all the videos and background: "Oh man I'm gonna play Exiles not those smarmy Dominion jerks" in some form. Which raises the question: Is Carbine possibly doing the Dominion side a disservice by making them too much the "bad guys" of the story? I understand wanting to make each side have its own rich background and loyalty factors (Dominion is the strong interstellar empire and Exiles are the quirky but stalwart freedom fighters) but it seems to me there has to be a way to do this without demonizing one side over the other

    • I planned on going dominion purely on the basis that the races look way better. I usually play the "evil" side in most games anyways, so it is of no bother to me
