Downloading TERA... what class is best?

I am downloading TERA now and I am going to start playing on the weekend, but I wanted to see which class people feel is the best to play with. I generally like classes with high damage and lots of AoE skills, so can any of you help me? What do you think is the best TERA class?

I just started myself I would say read the character description and try out characters for yourself everyone does like to play the same for me I love playing Lancer from my little experience they are nice for soloing they have good defense and can dish out some decent damage.

The lancer is really good for tanking, has heavy armour and it does do a lot of damamge, however the lancer is hard to control (one of the hardest classes) and does require skill so it may take you a while to become really good, especially if you don't have much prior practice when it comes to using tanking classes. The lancer is great for soloing and partying so that's a plus too.
