Heh. Finally confirmation to what a lot of people were thinking for years. I wonder if they'll go GW2 route with selling exp boosters and cosmetic gear to supplement for the loss of subscriptions. But this is a good step in the right direction because for all of us that beta'd knew that the game wasn't worth the sub and it was overhyped.

It's not worth $80 to me right now, but maybe when I get some cash to blow, I'll buy it.

I'm glad more companies are coming to their senses and realizing that subscription fees are archaic, but the initial cost for ESO is still way too high. I might try it if it ever goes true f2p or something.

Ill probably get it now! That was the only thing turning me away from getting the game. I cant stand sub fees. But sometimes they are worth it... cough cough .. WoW.

When it drops since it has no sub now, I will definitely add it to the collection. Even if it was' horrible' and 'badly' designed (not saying it is or was) seeing games go free to play and freemium usually makes me jump on their deals. And I'll donate/pay if I like it.

I just ain't blowing no new game price.

I am glad as well. I really find subscription fees pointless, despite having to pay for the server. Players will typically be shunned away from the game if they have to pay for both the game and the subscription.

This game should have been free from the start, considering how many issues there have been from day one. Just my opinion, though.

I have no problems paying for a subscription game, providing the quality is there. Unfortunately, ESO was very buggy from the get-go, with so many quests broken to the point where you couldn't even progress your character anymore. That's why I stopped playing, one month in. I'm playing it again now, on and off. The game is much more polished now (how it should have been on release) and has finally added stealing and murdering (!) to the mix (you can now steal stuff from npcs and houses).

I never followed this game, so I'm happy I didn't play it while it's broken, and I'm happy to see it also getting fixed. Elder Scrolls deserves nothing less.

But with no sub, even broken, I've probably played worse games. Like Anarchy Online and how broken they were.

They did the same thing most MMORPGs do these days.. they spend too much money on marketing and trying to have a huge launch day.. and then all that demand on the servers causes minor bugs and issues to become major problems. Almost all of the problems they had with phasing could have been eliminated if they had just not tried to hype the launch so much and allowed players to gradually come into the game. AOC did the same thing.. the high demand on launch day created problems that wouldn´t have been noticeable with less players.

How unsurprising. It was horribly stupid of them to make a game with not only a buy-in price and a subscription, but also microtransactions! Seriously, I'm surprised they took so long and that they didn't go full free to play directly.

As expected, really, I don't know what they thought. Apart from WoW no other game could make subscription work in the long run. I'm sure it made a lot of people reconsider their purchase and therefore the game was a huge failure.

I've played the free events a few times and thought it was neat. Now that it doesn't have a subscription how do the features compare with GW2? I know they are very different games but feature wise how is it?
