As an avid MMO enthusiast as well as an Elder Scrolls lover, I'm hoping ESO will take my favorite characteristics of different games an combine them into one game that I love. Now I'm not hoping for a dungeon that is designed for 25 people or 40 people, no, I'm hoping for a dungeon that is made for a large non-specific amount of people. In other words, the dungeon can be done with 10 - X amount of people, up to a limit I guess, but it would scale in difficulty with more people. ESO "raids" I picture would be a mix up of people dodging the attacks of the boss or smaller creatures aiding the boss, whilest some players use a shield to block smaller attacks others use their class's evasiveness to dodge attacks. Others using magic to shield themselves.
I'm hoping for an ESO dungeon that supports a ton of players, that can all play together to defeat a challenging boss and or chain of bosses and monsters

I gotta say as a mostly pve player (i do enjoy a good bit of pvp but I'm far from a pvp nut) what happened to me with every wow expansion that introduced new dungeons was that I'd do them a few times and early on felt like there was a bit of danger and risk of dying or even being unable to complete the dungeon....in other words many were a challenge. That is until you beat them once or twice and then within a week everyone knows exactly how to beat them and there is simply no more challenge and the only reason to keep doing them were for gear or crafting mats. So while I share your dislike of tiered gear grinds I cant say I've ever played any mmo with raids that were always fun. There always came a time (usually pretty quickly) when the raid/dungeon wasnt fun because it became to easy, partly due to increased gear players got and also partly due to knowing the boss's every move and where to stand, etc... I do hope that ESO is able to introduce new facets to dungeons and raids to keep them interesting and fun while not being a gear grind but its one of those things where I'll believe it when I see it. I think a lot of people are expecting too much TES out of TESO and I dont think certain aspects (like epic dungeon crawling for 4 hours) are able to be transfered over to an MMO. I have high hopes for TESO but I also have a lot of skepticism

Mainly to have fun. See the problem with the "raid" scene, is that people always attribute it to some kind of gear progression. There are tons of games that I play all day, that I play simply to have fun. Like League of Legends or Borderlands, or pretty much anything I enjoy. Now while there is some sidelining progression, the main reason I play is for fun. WoW, while I love raiding, fell off, because the aspect of raiding that I enjoyed became lack-luster, and the only fun part was getting the rewards. I'm hoping with an ESO combat system, large scale dungeons, such as wow's raids, could have WAAAY more potential, without having to be focused on the rewards of gear and loot

Without the tier grind what is the point? People want to feel as if they are progressing
