I have some bad news for those looking to play Elder Scrolls online for free. Bethesda has announced that they will have a subscription fee to play the game. This is really something that disappoints me to such a degree. It'll end up being $14.99 a month after the first free 30 days when you get the game. Also /€12.99/£8.99 respectively. Read more about it here: Game Trailers

This is something I had a feeling would happen. I was hoping it didn't happen, but I guess they did it anyways. I will still get this game, play it for the first 30 days and if it's that good I'll pay an extra $15 a month until I can't play it anymore. This game will rock no matter what.

Bad news indeed.. That's quite an amount to pay to play a game. I'm a big fan of The Elder Scrolls, but it's gonna be hard on my pocket to play with that price tag. I've signed up for the trial 2 days ago, no word yet. :|

Man I was so pumped for this game especially because I assumed it would just be a one time buy and I could play it peacefully from then onwards.

Didn't even think that they could put in the outdated subscription model...'tis sad news indeed.

I don't get it. $15 a month is not even that much, and if you were thinking that ESO was going to be free, that would be a pretty bad guess. You're already spending a lot more than $15 a month, and yet you're complaining how this game wouldn't be free? Not to mention that F2P games focuses more on their cash shop system so they can get money, therefore their content would be way worse than an actual P2P game. Subscription based also means less 12 year olds that can ruin the game for other people, and better content.

This is by far the most disappointing news I have received in a long time! I have been waiting for any kind of news on this wonderful game but this was the last thing I'd have wanted to hear! After paying a subscription fee for WOW a while back and never feeling that I got my money's worth I vowed to never again pay for any online game! So there goes my hope then of ever playing Elder Scrolls online!

If you buy playtime in bulk, it'll likely be cheaper. I completely agree with everything Oxadin has said.
