This always makes me roll my eyes. A game would be rated Mature 17+ because a woman is topless or their butt is exposed after having sex on a bed, but a game would be rated PG13 due to violence and blood. Sex which is a natural act between two people is super bad, but killing and gore is fine because..........?

Yeah that goes back to the puritanical roots of the US. It's amazing how it's still so pervasive to this day, but many people still think it's more shameful to have sex than it is to kill people (and we wonder why people are constantly shooting up schools and shopping malls?)

Not surprising. Similar games with similar features always get the same ratings. I don't really care about the whole argument between sex and violence and whatnot. It's not like a game being rated Mature is going to affect myself or you either way.

I wasn't saying that it was surprising, just that it was interesting.

Studies show there is no link between violent video games and violence. I find it surprising that you on a video game forum that involves violent video games thinks that's the reason people shoot up schools or shopping malls.

That wasn't my point. I wasn't making a link between video games and violence. My point was that people glorify violence in general (movies, news), and we shame people regarding anything sexual. Guns are ok, but showing cleavage is not. So, no, I wasn't trying to imply that video games cause violence. I'm saying that it's a societal thing - that as a society we condone violence over sex. Does that make any sense?

Yup, this makes sense. I actually agree with this. It's silly to condone violence over sex. Also it's silly to think of sex as some horrific disgusting thing we must hide form all kids-
