Ex-WoW players... what have you moved on to, and why do you love it?

I find myself unable to settle into anything new. Between Everquest and WoW I tried Lineage II, City of Heroes and City of Villains, and Final Fantasy Online. Since WoW I've tried Guild Wars 2, Rift, Skyrim, Lord of the Rings Online and even found an old version of Everquest, but I haven't had luck finding anything that catches my interest. So I'm curious as to other people's experiences - what have you moved to, and why do you love it?

My husband quit WOW and has occupied himself on Diablo 3. He met four people that would log on and they'd play together. They all have the same work schedule luckily. He quit before but just like you, he'd find another game and never stayed long playing that game since he'd get bored easily. If he didn't find these four friends to play with,I had a feeling he might move on to a new game so I am glad he found someone to play with. They just had fun killing stuffs and leveling Paragon level and sometimes, try to kill each other. Some nights I'd heard him laugh his ass off down there . When you played those games, did you play with friends? Perhaps find what your friends been playing and join them to see if you'd have more fun.

Well I quit WoW because when I joined (which was pretty late) there were already so many other RPG's that were amazing, that were just like WoW itself. The main game I moved onto was also Lineage 2, but I played pretty much every single game possible created by PWE. These games were all amazing in the fact that they were all different, had much better character creation and customization, weapons were better, graphics were better etc. and so was the storyline. I think though for older WOW, players, it may be hard to move on because of the nostalgia and history behind the game, rather than the fact that it is the best.

I've moved on to League of Legends temporarily but have never stuck with it. World of Warcraft truly even now is the kind of MMOs and I don't think a MMO will ever be as popular as WoW ever will be, once WoW does so will MMOs. That said I might just be getting too old to appreciate video games, I've moved on to casual gaming on mobile devices more than anything.

I was never a big WoW player, but right now I am taking a break from MMO's I might come back to them when ESO comes out, but right now I have been having fun playing Battlefield 4!

I've tried a bit of everything and I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to hardcore MMORPG gaming ever again. MMOs just feel a bit stale for the time being. There's things I like implemented in every game I try since every MMO tends to have its own little "twist," but the overall experience just isn't as magical as it used to be.

I'm still playing WoW, but I'm looking for something to branch out too. I'm thinking of picking up ESO when it launches because I loved the previous elder scroll games and think it basically looks like a newer prettier version of WoW in some ways, I trust the Bethesda dev studios to not abandon the game after a year, what I love more than anything is a constant update schedule for new content. WoW delivers this, I hope ESO will too.

I still actually play WoW from time to time. Mostly because I get free monthly subscription because of my job. Playing with friends is why more fun then playing by yourself. Playing by yourself gets boring after a while.

I played WOW with my friends on our private server for 5 years but now I moved on to more interesting games like Witcher or Mass Effect. They are only RPG's, but they are amazing with fantastic graphics and amazing stories. I still have the old WOW server on my computer, and I still love the game but after a period you get bored playing the same dungeons and fighting the same monsters day after day. ;)

I moved onto RPGs like skyrim, oblivion, FO3 FNV and RTS games like the AOE series.

I've stopped playing once MoP came out, and since pretty much none of my old guildmates or friends were playing, I kinda just stopped caring. It happens every now and then, and I don't really "move on" to anything, I just stop playing and come back someday.

I've played through pretty much the entire Fallout series up to New Vegas and a few mods, GW2, Skyrim, FFXII, Skyrim again, and a few free-to-play MMOs I just sort of got into and stopped after a week or two. Silkroad was a pretty big one, I played it for months before getting bored.

Once WoD comes out, I'll probably resub and play it again for a couple months, then find something else once I get bored of it. Even then, WoW is probably among the games (if not the one) I've played the most of so far. There's just nothing else that's so perfectly addicting and easy to get into. :(

Right now I just play Dota 2 and a few singlepayer games. I grew tired of MMOs once I stopped playing WoW, and it doesn't that many just try to copy WoW.

I probably won't ever fully "quit" WoW, but it has been almost a year since I've played. I have to thank WoW for getting me into MMOs in the first place. Since then I've pretty much tried everything I can get my hands on. So far, I really enjoy FFXIV probably the most of any MMORPG that's available right now. Guild Wars 2 and SWToR are also very good.

I tried Skyrim and just couldn't get into that sort of "fantasy" genre. So I've almost given up completely on MMORPG's and moved on to RTS games like Total War and Civilization.

Oh, I tried moving to a lot of things. From single player RPG's like Skyrim and pretty much everything Bioware has recently produced, to Champions Online and a few smaller MMO's, and none of it could stick like WoW did, but I did get some temporary fun out of them, now I've came to conclude that the time must be filled with other stuff, not just games, because I am not willing to sink the amount of time into games now, which I had previously sunken with WoW.

I moved from WoW to League of Legends.
WoW was getting pretty boring, so I decided to try LoL because a friend was already playing it and he said it was awesome.
It was my first time playing a MOBA, and it took me a while to get used to it, but now it's the only game I play! :p

Avoiding MMOs at the moment. They have all become so similar and filled with things that bother me that I avoid them.

DayZ did it for me. I also play LOTRO every once in a while - that one was done really well.

My husband and I have tried many, many games since quitting WoW. LOTRO, GW2, Aion, Warhammer, SWTOR, Rift, etc. SWTOR kept our attention for awhile, but since it was pay to win, we ended up deciding it wasn't worth the $30/month to maintain it. We went back to Rift since it went f2p and have been there ever since. We love the game and all the diversity in it and will probably retire our MMORPG career there.

I stopped liking it as much. I'm pretty much like that. I'll give it a try, but then I realize I shouldn't. There are many great MMO's that are free. I decided to cancel and I haven't really regretted it.
