I main a Warrior and dual specced to Arms and Portection. I started off doing DPS as Arms but recently tried out tanking as Protection and love it because of the added reslonsibility and shield and one handed abilities. What about you?

Tried all and excelled best at supportive DPS. I'm a nightmare when it comes to healing, even with awesome addons. Don't have the mentality for it. Tanking's the same way. Have me face melt a boss like no tomorrow and brez someone? No problem.

I like all three roles at certain times and hate all 3 roles at certain times

Tanking - Love tanking 5 mans, especially once content is easy to do. Hate tanking LFR because any wipes get blamed on tanks and they get kicked mid-run

Healing - Love healing LFR... it is braindead and easy, and something I can do while watching TV.

DPS Same as healing, love DPS in LFR because there is no effort involved.. 1-button spam and you can be middle of the pack.

As you can see, overall I do not like LFR and so just want to get it over with. For 5 mans, I hate being at the mercy of a bad tank, so prefer to just tank myself, even if it means carrying bad dps.

I prefer DPS, but I'll tank if I have to. I don't heal.

I feel like DPS is great if you wanna just sit back, relax, and obliterate some foes

DPS here as well. I like tanking too, but playing DPS basically means you should dish out as much damage as you can, and that is fine by me. It is the most relaxing way to play the game, I think.

Depends on if you're casual or raiding. In raids the pressure on dps is a little more than casual playing, but overall it's the least stressful of roles.

I too started with DPS as a warrior. Firstly, I was new too the game and it was the easiest at that time. When I capped in WOTLK I tried tanking and I fell in love. Protection ever since.

She may be squishy, but I love my warlock. She was my first toon ever, and I just can't quit her. I dabble with alts, attempt to reach endgame with them, but I keep finding myself back on my lock.

I've heard Prot Warrior is better tank then Prot Paladin. Is this true?

Both are pretty even in terms of tanking, but prot's more fun in terms of mechanics and playstyle versus paladin.

Yes paladin's really easy to tank as. It's actually to the point where it's a snorefest honestly. Anybody can do it on a basic level- even me and that says a lot since I just don't have the mentality for it- aka I get bored to death easily. However there are certain tricks that make a really good paladin tank stand out from the standard basic level ones. It's a forgiving class, so the average of standard players stands out more than the good ones. I personally knew a really good paladin and phenomenal prot warriors. Prot Warrior's a little harder, which makes it more fun. The leaps/mobility along with shouts and whatnot makes it more interesting. Having a truly good prot warrior is a treat. Generally WoW has a history of kinda crapping on prot warrior/druid tanks on effectiveness versus paladin. However like I said, the truly good ones can work it, even with a nerf bat.

Ah, that's no fun then! Where's the challenge in tanking in a class so easy?! :)

Tank, even though I'm reduced to a DPS nowadays. I choose tank because it was my favorite role to play dungeons in (I was really good as a Prot Pala). My fondest WoW memory is joining a Shadowfang Keep session in progress in which the 4 other party members were getting beaten up by the mobs and pulling all the mobs off them. Then, the healer types in chat "finally, a good tank". I think that was the only time someone told me I was good at this game. xD

Good tanks (and healers) are hard to find! Cherish the memory, it doesn't happen nearly enough.

I try to tell my tanks and healers when they're awesome, they're thankless roles that no one gives the good props for......just the grief when the group wipes.

I disagree. Healers are a dime a dozen and anybody can spam heal in an instance. The mechanics to healing in WoW are such that anybody with the right spec and average gear can spam buttons and look like a good healer.

If anyone can spam buttons and look like a good healer, why are there craptastic healers that couldn't save their way out of a paper bag?? There's a flaw to your logic here.

Being bad at spamming the right buttons on what is essentially a group heal is a serious flaw of the player, not a flaw in my argument. I mean come on, most of healing in a dungeon or raid is targeting the boss mob and watching your levels. A freaking chimp could do it.

Personally, I like healing dungeons. My main is solely dps but I have an alt that heals and I love healing on her. I like the idea of the dungeon group depending on me, and I've always loved the reactive abilities you have to use as a healer. For raids, however, I still prefer dps.
