I always liked the dalish elves . The ones that tried there best to stay true to there heritage and wondered around in the forest. The whole elf story kind of reminded me of Native Americans who were pushed out of there homelands and made to live in bad conditions except the ones who escaped and moved there tribes .
On my first playthrough I always prefer to be a human. I just like a human so I can roleplay myself as the PC. On any subsequent playthroughs I will check out the other races to see the different start points.
In games that I have a choice, I usually pick Elf. I'm not sure what it is, I just like the way they feel, and somehow I think they kind of represent me in a way, if that makes any sense.
I like the human as well as is also my main pick. Usually on most RPGs I pick the human just because I want to feel as if it myself in the game.
Human all the way. I used to pick any race before the human but I just found it a little harder to get into character. I mean it was my goal at first to get into another kind of character but in the end I still preferred to stay as myself in the long run so I switched to picking human and it was a lot more relaxing.
I usually go Elf since I feel that it adds some variety to the play-through. I'm not sure, I sometimes switch it up and create Human characters, but that's a very rare occurrence.
For me the Dalish was the best out of the origins as they are true and more respected. In Dalish camp more welcome there outside brecalian forest than other races. I did try other races, city elf does not have a great life even when you return others blame you for what happened. Dwarf commoner alright but leske betrays you and have to kill him with jarvia. Noble dwarf get banished and can choose your brother or harrowmont although he is moral but does not do alot to improve society. Human one your family dies which is sad, dalish is the good one although your friend is lost in death at least you can lead army and make dalish name proud as one of the grey wardens was dalish elf and ended one blight.
I have always been a fan of the Qunari myself. I think it will be interesting to see how they handle the Qunari Inquisitor in the new game. Following that, Dalish elves are the next favorite mainly because they are the thinkers and historians of the game. I love the fact that they preserve knowledge where they can. Most of the characters I play are always seeking out the past believing that if you forget the past you will relive it.
In terms of "what race would you rather be?" definitely a (dalish) elf. After all, according to lore, they were once immortal and all possessed magical abilities. The perks don't get much better than that. Still, in terms of history, ideology, characteristics, and so forth, all races are fascinating in their own ways. The Qunari remain a mystery, which obviously makes them very intriguing - and the same goes for the dwarves, and their connection to the Deep Roads. And of course, the Darkspawn. Especially when you get characters like the Architect which hint that there is far more to them then appears.
I prefer human, just because I myself am human? Elf seems too...magical for me. It seems like a 'better' version of myself, which feels like cheating, in a way.
I have always preferred human over other races as I an connect to my character better that way. When it comes to classes, I prefer Warrior than any other one.
I've been in love with elves since I was a kid. So, hands down, elves. I guess it's the mystic nature of them. I do, however, love different approaches people take with the way they make the elves. I.e. Dragon Age with them in fallen glory of themselves or Tera with them being the center of so much pain to one race.
