For those who do not know, Tekkit and Feed the Beast (or FTB) are mod launchers for Minecraft that completely change the game adding many mods at once.

Which one do you honestly prefer? I switch between the two of them often, I play FTB when I want to be able to change what I want or go full modding mode. I'll use Tekkit when I'm looking for a more casual world or to play online with friends, it all depends.

-EDIT- Just noticed I misspelled the Poll, Should be "or Tekkit", Apologies.

I honestly prefer Tekkit. Feed the Beast is very good, and it's creators deserve much respect. But for me it's a bit too hard and it's also bad optimized. Tekkit was complex and easy at the same time and It also has several paths (Industrialcraft, Redstone power, Equivalent Exchange which is my favorite) and so many others.

I can understand you're reasoning for that, Tekkit takes minecraft to an advanced level that is still easy to understand and is basically a blast. A lot of Feed-The-Beast's mods over complicate things to where it isn't as enjoyable. I also agree with the optimization issues, Tekkit has always ran smoother for me than FTB.

Despite the fact that Feed the Beast is very complicated, if you manage to understand the basics it will be pretty easy. But I couldn't stay away from Tekkit because Equivalent Exchange, I always loved that mod.

The reason why Tekkit has no optimization issues is that the modpack also includes Optifine and FtB does not. Optifine is one of the *Tekkit wonders* as I love to call them.

Feed The Beast can be very complex at the beginning, no offense, but as soon as you understood the main part about it, you'll see that it offers way more automation techniques than Tekkit. Also Feed The Beast contains Thaumcraft, one of my favorite mods besides technic mods.

I love Thaumcraft, my only issue with it is that it doesn't fit in very well compared to the Industry. I also don't care for how FTB overcomplicates a lot of recipes with GregTech, making a solar panel was already challenging without needing irradiated glass. It adds a layer or realism but strips away more fun than it is worth, at least for me.

Yes, some recipes are really hard to make obviously, Iridium and all this other stuff is really hard to obtain. And you may be right, that Thaumcraft does not fit into this technic stuff, but I just like to have both combined into one modpack so I don't have to switch.

I have played on a server with both mod packs and i honestly prefer Feed the Beast. During my time with both mods i played with the same community and i felt like feed the beast was a lot more creative oriented. At the time i was also able to watch my favorite Youtubers play the same mod and i believe that also swung me to FTB.

I've played a fair amount of Tekkit (not any of the versions in the past 6 months) and a bit of Feed the beast. I found that Tekkit was more enjoyable. Adding a lot of cool new things that often seemed to be related, leading onto more advanced Tech. I feel that if Feed the beast was better I'd simply have played it more but it depends on personal preference.

All of this may be needed with a pinch of salt as I haven't played either in at least 6 months.

I find them pretty similar. If I had to choose I'd say Tekkit. It just suits me better with It's mods. I also prefer the Technic launcher over the FTB one. I found the mods in Tekkit more enjoyable than the ones in FTB.

I have played both. I've played Tekkitt longer, though.

I thought that Tekkit and Bukkit are the same type of system, where they allow servers to add mods and customize it the way you want your game world to work? In other words, isn't comparing Tekkit and FTB completely not on the same wavelength as if you compare Bukkit and Tekkit instead?

I have really only played on FTB servers, I mean I have tried Tekkit but it just seemed to complicated whereas feed the beast seemed to be a bit more reasonable to me. It's more user friendly and easier to learn.

Tekkit takes a while to get used to, but once you're in and know your way around the possibilities seem almost endless, building a factory system with it's own power sources, nuclear reactors and solar systems to name some, takes hours of fun. Quarry systems with pipes create alot of work but are so satisfying when they all work correctly.

FTB. That's just my opinion but it's my mod of choice. It just comes with so much. I really like it , I hope there are lots of other 'beaster's in this forum.

Personally I feel that FTB is better than Tekkit. Even though FTB doesn't have space did you know there was a time when Tekkit distributed mods illegally or without the mod creator's permission? Interesting, is what I would say to that. FTB has much more balanced gameplay and has industrialcraft.

I haven't played Tekkit, but I think I should try it soon, seeing all the positive remarks about it. Anyway, I do like Feed the Beast because it adds so much realism. Sometimes it does get complicated, but that is fun as well because it makes it like a puzzle and more like real-life problem solving. I will try Tekkit and I hope it makes it more simple but keeps the realism and fun.

I personally prefer Tekkit. It is easy enough to pick up and go, without having to be some kind of computer genius. That being said, they're both great. I just want something easy to work with.

Tekkit, I think it's more user friendly to be honest.

Tekkit, definitely. It's just the more easy and simple alternative.

I personally do favor FTB. Although I have played Tekkit for longer, FTB just has more mods and it really changes Minecraft for me.
