I want to know how many of you have found your favorite games. Are they still entertaining, or are you getting a bit bored with them? How do you go about searching for a game that suits you best? There are millions of rpg's yet I've only found two that I enjoy playing. How about you guys?

For RPGs, it is easy to just wait for reviews. One of the biggest mistakes people make is buying new games. It only takes a few months to learn, risk-free, what are the better single player games.

Second... use gog.com You can find a lot of older games there for just a few bucks... best off, they have had millions of players already so only the good survive.

With MMORPGs, it is a little more problematic because there is a good reason to start on day 1, you don“t want to get left behind on group content, but still, waiting a month after launch will usually save you a lot of money with bad games.

Really good points you made! When starting a game that people have been playing for years, I feel quite pathetic because I don't really know a lot of things yet. That being said, open beta is one of my favorite things to participate in because everyone is a newbie and the content is still fresh. Thanks for the tips. I'll be sure to use gog.com and read those reviews.

In some ways I like open beta ( if it is not paid) because of that fresh feeling where everyone is learning. It is also usually more friendly.

But at the same time, I hate seeing halfway done stuff. It kinda breaks the mood when the game goes live.

But that is all for MMORPGs.

I love GoG just because some of those old RPGs are better than anything done in the last 10 years. With the exception of Skyrim and ES in general, the best RPGs were made last century

Gaming in general is a taste that people develop over time. It's all about finding what works for you, but it's perfectly fine to take breaks from games; even the games that you love take a second place in relation to real life. You'll grow bored of doing the same thing over and over eventually. Luckily with gaming there are constantly new and innovative games to capture our interest. If you find yourself tiring of a genre, try something new, or find a slight variation on that genre and try that out.

I never get bored of Pokemon. The thing about RPGs is it's like they're an extension of your reality and everyday you discover something new, get bored or get on with the game just like with life. I also used to play a lot of Ragnarok but I've stopped only because my friends have stopped too so you see how social interactions are important even in gaming.

I found that Skyrim is always fun, no matter what. I can return to it after a year, load my save and continue where I left off. The thing about RPGs is that you are free to do what you want, they are kind of like sandbox games with a great story.

About MMOs, I usually get bored of them if none of my friends play them and I just walk around alone. They were designed as social games so playing them alone isn't all that fun.

That's a good question. Generally I tend to lurk on /r/MMORPG and see what's going on there. There I've discovered GW2 and I really loved it and still loving it.

It really depends on your personal preferences. I think currently there are so many games out there, that it is nearly impossible not to find one that you truly like. The important thing is to check out review sites and demos before you spend money on them, so you can be kind of sure that the game is the right one for you.

I usually go and do research. Then, I will just try it out. By research, I mean asking friends and reading reviews. Or, posting in a forum asking opinions.
